Looking at the radar ... is that blob over France going to continue swinging round to catch London from the East? Or is that a silly question from an amateur?

Hi Reevesie.

One of the many good things about the SE/EA thread is that it's a friendly place, and there is no such thing as a silly question. There are some very knowledgeable folk here so don't be afraid to ask questions.

As a complete amateur myself, looking at the current radar it does look possible that the activity over northern France may head our way later today but I have my doubts as to whether it can be sustained.

It's brightened up considerably here in Nw London in the last hour or so.

Hmm that tree could be an Apple tree, but not sure.

Ok.....it definately looks as though something is brewing here. Some really BIG towering clouds and some darkening skies. And I have a headache brewing too. :(

Here's hoping. :D

Afternoon all

No hail or thunder here, a few sharp showers though, bagged a copy of last weeks Nag & Dog to read so not all bad.  Some extra shopping done too, nothing major, PO was the worst part, queued for over half an hour for four pounds of business, no wonder the RM/PO is losing money hand over fist (and their answer is to put up stamp prices again, they will lose even more trade).

Sun is back (well back 'ish)

You sure that it wasn't gunfire! The other day I noted that you are interested in the first world war and are considering writing a book on the subject. I know someone through my role as safety officer at Chelmsford City (He wrote a book about the history of our club in the 1960's when he lived in the area- he now lives in Leatherhead) who has written a fictional book on the first world war- covering a young footballer tyring to make it before the war with Preston but got thrown into the conflict on the front line. It is well worth a read. It is by Steve Little and is entitled More than Just a Life. and is published by Authorhouse. It is a very good read. If you want me to contact him for advice on publishing please let me know.Back on topic- just had a heavy shower in NW1, a little brighter now but looks rather stormy.Kind regardsDave

Be honest with you, thought it was thunder but can't be absolutely certain as we are upstairs on a mezzanine, certainly was chucking it down at the time. The story I was / am thinking about, is a combination of a story my dad wrote on his life, perhaps bulking out his exploits in the Second World War, and somehow combing it with my rather boring life story (compared to his anyway). But unfortunately that will have to wait until I get some time, think that will be in my retirement.Dry but cloudy in dirty Dartford, look like we had dome heavy showers today. Jax. With all due respect I really do wonder where you get some of your information from. RM/PO losing money hand over fist ??  Their profits almost doubled in the last financial report.

Let's stick to the weather. It's a bright and sunny evening here in the suburbs, and I hope it is wherever you are. Posted Image

Raining here, just as I wanted to put some new fence panels in.

Oh well it should only last 5 minutes looking at the radar :)

Checking before our check out of the hotel at Zell am See tomorrow morning. Due back at 14.30 and wondering what the weather will surprise us with.

Had some snow in the mountains for a few days, a poor winter for all though by many accounts. Snow machines have kept the resorts open and running very well (typical for Austria)

So at least i found out what snow feels like :)

Still cant get the hang of photo uploading on an iPhone :/
