Nothing showing on blitzortung currently from France .Total non event me thinks

That doesn't matter! Things are likely to develop over the Channel and onto Southern coastal counties then move North! Very similar to last night's rapid developments.

Too many people haven't got experience or memory of how these situations can explode, I remember them happening in 2005, 2006 and 2008 at differing times of day ; with all the juice in the atmosphere and a front pivoting towards our region overnight it is ripe for storms.

 

2008 has to be my favorite storm to date! Just because of how well I read it that day, when I said things was bubbling up to family members at a BBQ people thought I was trying to spoil the party! When in reality the lightning did and I had a grin on my face most of the night at being proved right! As well as watching the storm that went on for about 2-3 hours! :D

I truly cannot believe people are being negative about hopes for the SW etc! Just take yourself back to 23.00 last night and check out how rapidly the major storms erupted over East Somerset/Dorset/West Wiltshire by midnight!

 

The first showers are breaking out near Salisbury in the last half an hour and I fully expect more to follow from the South coast over the next several hours with rapid development. There does not have to be stuff over France for it to happen here!

I saw the radar blip just as you wrote this, there is plenty of cloud coming in, been waiting myself for ages now, i am surprised how quite it it, was expecting some flashes by now! very surprised!

Plenty more small sharp showers forming over Wiltshire/Hampshire/Dorset now moving S-N and interestingly heavier showers moving more SE-NW further East. It's beginning, these current showers could become storms for areas North of here.

Yep been watching this like a hawk! Humidity levels are rising rapid as its getting closer

Spotty showers now breaking out between Hereford and Ludlow according to the radar. As mentioned already, it's messy stuff right now but it has to start somewhere!
