Quake in North Devon ? Just saw it on breaking news on sky

The British Geological Society has confirmed the earthquake struck at around 1.21pm this afternoon.Julian Bukits, from the society, confirmed the earthquake occurred around halfway between the North Devon coast and South Wales. The society has said the epicentre was north of Ilfracombe, and south of the Gower in Wales and was at a depth of 3.1 miles (5km)and measured 4.1 on the Richter scale.A statement added: "The epicentre of this earthquake was approximately 18 km north of Ilfracombe in North Devon and around 30 km southwest of Swnasea in South Wales. The earthquake was widely felt in North Devon and South Wales."The ground shook in the area for around 10 seconds and has been felt as far as Ilfracombe and Exmouth.post-10773-0-02907900-1392909401_thumb.j Edited by MKsnowangel

Afternoon all

Been a rather bright and sunny day here after a dull start, light rain passed through during the morning but the wind strength has increased again, so while it looks nice and is in fact quite mild it does not feel that way.

Just as well I am in for the duration of the evening now.

Just had a sharpe shower of rain here with some beautiful stormy looking clouds...but unfortunately, no thunder. :(

Now it's bright sunshine.

Oh, blast...the left image is on its side. Tsk!

I went to the wholesales for some supplies earlier (VAT free day so had to be done) I didn't wear a coat and it felt quite pleasant in the sunshine, the brids were singing and it felt like spring had sprung !

Think if this current trend of weather continues into the summer we will get too many storms (we need dry storms if possible ;-) )

snizzle(n) precipiation which does not take the form of snow nor rain but rather a mixture of the two (v) to snizzle

Francis Wilson used to present the weather on BBC breakfast news back in the 80s I think coined the phrases 'mizzle' (mist and drizzle) and 'thorm; (thunderstorm) back then, maybe a few others too.

Francis Wilson, should do the weekly weather on net weather, once Mike Fish retires, or maybe even Ian Macaskill.

That was the one (not had sky for years so long forgotten by me)

We are ever going to let the great Mr Fish leave?

I do not think so!
