Mild ramper Diane Oxberry goes away on a sabbatical and comes back as the snow queen.

Could hardly hide her excitement at the thoughts of waking up to a covering in the morning.

Nice to have you back Diane.

Looking at Raintoday-some showers seem to be spawning over the Irish sea, only smaoll atm but who knows. Surprised Diane said it was coming from Midlands-from here everything looks like its coming from the West.

We've had a covering here although probably less than others in the region but at least this diabolical winter has finally come up with the goods.

Tomorrow is where the problems may come though with, unless it changes course, probably the worst gales since January 2007 and maybe since the Burns Day storm of 1990.

Last minute adjustments may occur but, as it stands the region could be in for some widespread damage, trees down, possible power outages and maybe even casualties.

Certainly not one to be taken lightly.

A proper winters night. We've had a few heavy hail/snow pellet type showers leaving a dusting - but not the proper big snowflakes etc. Still its better than nothing. We may catch a few rogue showers in the next few hours, but the action seems reserved for Wales and parts of the midlands possibly southern parts of the region as well.

Tomorrow looks very nasty - with damaging winds expected. Can't say this winter has been dull, its been the most energetic and fast changing winter for years, with barely a window of calm weather.

Yes diabolical is the word, the only consolation I can see from it is, that it may help to lower everyones expectations for next winter-although somehow I doubt it!

Just one short of going red now. Can't see it going to red but you never know and TBH. With all of the rain over recent weeks and the sodden ground, even run of the mill gales can uproot trees and tomorrow's look far from run of the mill.
