Some nice convection going on to my South - presumably the London cell on radar. Not much going on electrical wise though.

[you'll have to look sideways at the second photo unfortunately]

Great photo of a typical single cell storm anvil, nice one AP. I was driving under that near to Castle Donington when it came over but did not see any lightning. Then again I couldn't see much due to the intensity of the rain and hail!

I noticed Estofex has a nice radiosonde skew-t page under Meteo Data menu, then "Map of Soundings" where you can then select the relevant sounding. Today's is on there.

Convective/storm forecast for today, widespread showers this mornning, but storms most likely towards eastern England today, as convective activity becomes confined here this afternoon with high pressure building in from the west:

Not too shabby at all so far! Full blown storm more or less over Alton in Hampshire heading towards S Coast, and more potential thunder showers this afternoon looking likely :)

Good old PM Northwesterlies never fail to deliver the goods! Over the years of my life, some of these setups at their best have produced some absolute corkers!

Hail showers rattling through - they appear to be developing directly above.

It seems that the heavier showers are developing in the east from North Yorkshire southwards- after a quiet day yesterday with just the one rain shower, there's been two hail showers here so far, where the second was pretty impressive with hailstones of about 8mm diameter (which is large enough to classify as large, rather than small, hail according to World Meteorological Organisation definitions).

There may be more dramatic stuff to come judging by the radar and the Cb cell approaching from the north-west, though I think there is only an outside chance of thunder here, with Lincolnshire and, later on, East Anglia being the most favoured regions.  Nonetheless I have opened a couple of the windows to reduce the chance of me missing distant rumbles.

Large (10mm is very large here)hail and thunder, turned the Downs at Tennyson and Afton white, my bald head and ears were stinging.....

Half an hour ago, looks like more of the same sort of showers all around me on radar.

Looks like some pretty nice stuff on the radar for Lincolnshire. Think im probably too far west for any storms today.
