Today looking not bad, but tomorrow looks as if the potential may be greater, up to 500j/kg CAPE and LI values of -2 and maybe even lower for localised spots.

MO saying showers could be heavy by Sat afternoon with localised hail and thunder. Seems like the main problem is the lack of moisture though. Mixing ratio looks to be only around 4g/kg on Lightning Wizard.

I felt some raindrops on my lunch break earlier - very convective skies.

I've been looking forward to spending more time in this thread again...let's hope 2014 is a real convective year! Posted Image

Spring 2013 was quite disappointing as if I remember rightly it was overall very quiet on the convective front...(down here anyway)

Anyway...we've had a couple of hefty showers here near Bristol and hopefully may see some more convective showers darting around this afternoon, as well as tomorrow! Posted Image

Yep, some nice clouds out there. Just started raining quite heavily here in Dijon but there's a layer of what I think is Nimbostratus (too high for stratus) obscuring my view of the more interesting clouds. It's a nice purpley, black out there, so something interesting should happen even if it's just very heavy rain.

Lots of sferics in that line out to the west, I'm sure they'll vanish by the time it gets here! :D

Very, very dark here now but nothing more than rain and sleet.

Intense downpours with hail mixed in and some sharp temperature drops, only 3.0*c.

Estofex forecast for tomorrow....Posted Image

post-17315-0-99302200-1395436914_thumb.p

... Western Europe ...

Very cold upper levels overspread the British Isles and France in the wake of the cold front, enabling a few hundred J/kg of CAPE under weak vertical wind shear. Scattered to widespread thundery showers are expected. Activity will likely be maximized over Ireland, England and the Bretagne during daytime and over the Channel region overnight. A number of funnel clouds and an isolated land- or waterspout are possible.

Showed this in the South East thread, picture sucks but I thought it may have been a funnel cloud/tornado but someone else suggested it might be a hail shaft.

Can see clear, crisp cumulonimbus columns stacking up out there this evening, lit up by the moon. Heavy graupel showers on and off at the moment.

Looks like a promising day convection wise today with Estofex having most of the UK under a storm risk, highest potential being down south.

Had some great hail showers yesterday.

Cumbria Police warning that snow showers are falling over parts of the county and affecting the M6. Looks like a good day coming up with some nice cloudscape potential, a mixture of rain hail sleet & snow likely depending on altitude/intensity of showers.
