As the Winter Olympics looms up, spare a thought for our plucky Olympians who may well have had some experience in chilly weather only by travelling a long way.

 

Believe it or not we are expecting up to 7 medals in the snow and ice of Russia. Quite a big ask considering the deluge of durge they have had to put up with in this snowless, mild, snow deficient, flooded, windy "Winter" which has of course been Crap  with a capital C, to date.

 

How will our sportsmen and women cope in the frozen wastes of sub zero ?

Friend of mine is out in sochi at moment, working for the news, said it's been mild there so far, some rain and was windy yesterday. Lovely snow in the surrounding mountains though, good job!! Hope we do well, team gb. Whatever happened to Eddie the eagle!!!

Temperature in Sochi today was 10 Celcius, there are many who say that it's hardly the most suitable place to stage the Winter Olympics.On a local weather note we've just had yet another torrential shower 3rd since dusk.

Showers seem now to be pivoting from se to nw. Hope we get a few flakes tmrw night. I'm going for a meal tmrw night and the last time I went there we had thundersnow so fond memories. In fact for some reason it's my favourite restaurant . Can't remember what year but was truly epic. A think maybe 5 years can't remember what month.

Oh I missed it! I poked my head out just now and it's very chilly here aswell. Even the fox didn't hang about! I did try to chat to him, to ask him what he would say,,but he hoofed it !

Diary of a snow addict

Day 1: We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! I shoveled snow for the first time this winter, I cleared the driveway and the path. What a perfect life.

Day 2: Snow, lovely snow another 6" last night. The temperature dropped to -5 The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and path again. This is the life! l didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish l wouldn't huff and puff so.

Day 3: Even more snow forecast. Bought snow tyres for the car and a new shovel. Stocked the freezer.

Day 4: Ice storm this morning. Fell on my backside on the ice on the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell.

Day 5: Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm, I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

Day 6: Electricity's back on, but had another 6" of stupid snow last night. More shovelling, looked on line to see about buying a snow blower but earliest delivery date is end of March !

Day 7: Another couple of inches of the white stuff fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till April. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel the driveway.

Day 8: Only 1" of snow today. And it warmed up a bit so a slight thaw.

Day 9: 6" today on top of the compacted re frozen snow which is so hard l broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack.

Day 10: 2 more inches of the !=3D@x@!x!x1 slop tonight. Snowed in. The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. God I hate the snow!

Day 11: Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever pray for snow !

Day 12: Temperature dropped to -10 and the pipes froze.

Day 13: Warmed up to above freezing and the pipes burst and bathroom flooded into the kitchen bringing down the ceiling.

Day 14: 6 more inches. Neighbour says I should shovel the snow off the conservatory roof or it could cave in, how rediculous I took no notice.

Day 15: Conservatory roof caved in.

Day 16: Set fire to what's left of the house. No more shovelling.

Day 17: I feel so good it's really warm in this cozy little room with no windows, the walls are covered in a duvet and I'm wearing a hug yourself warm jacket and I just love these pills they keep giving me :-)

as weak as a kitten that i feel. mr doggy doesnt understand that and still wants walks fortunately i took him out a bit earlier, along the 30 minute route we sometimes do... still took an hour though luckily the rain hadnt started

heavy showers in last half hour, radar showing more to come from the south. but its still quite mild out so cant see any problems with frost/ice unless temps take a massive drop after the rains passed through here

No dog house here she sleeps at the end of the bed - even the cats come in tonight and he usually spends the night going through the rubbish sacks the night before bin day (he's well fed but enjoys rummaging for chicken carcasses etc) so it must be a bit nippy out there !!
