Morning all!  It's dry here at the moment and a temp of 6.7c

Shopping today, and then a party tonight which I'm looking forward to.

JennyJane please send regards to Southernman and I hope he recovers quickly with no long term effects.

Morning all.

Not too much rain overnight here, although some in the region must still be contemplating a submarine as the best method of getting about. I see a few in the MOD thread are perusing a colder outcome next month, lets hope there are no red faces this time:

Quiet sun ??

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-25743806

"The era of solar inactivity in the 17th Century coincided with a period of bitterly cold winters in Europe."

"This means that less UV radiation hits the stratosphere - the layer of air that sits high above the Earth. And this in turn feeds into the jet stream - the fast-flowing air current in the upper atmosphere that can drive the weather."

JJ1, very sorry to hear about Southernman, all the best wishes for a swift recovery.

Grey with a few blue patches this morning. Off to Sandbanks to catch a walk along the beach this afternoon before the rain sets in again. Haven't been down since the Christmas storms, so hoping no unpleasant surprises at the flat.

Have a lovely weekend all.

Pretty much guarantees the opposite will occur. Dry, cold, snowy. lol.

Ref TEITS' post in the model thread, pattern will change. Cold coming by end of Jan. And this is from a highly respected member of the forecasting community.

Morning all

JJ1 glad SM is on the mend Posted Image

Not stepped outside yet, but does not appear to be raining when I looked out whilst waiting for the kettle to boil, 7.4oC according to the outside sensor thingy but does appear dull and overcast.

Need to nip out very shortly before the bank shuts so just a quick visit from me this morning.

Southernman has some friends here he talks to occassionally, though he isn't as chatty as me, just to let you know, he was taken ill this afternoon and they think he has had a kind of mini-stroke, they are giving him a scan on Tuesday to confirm it.

Bad news.I am wondering how much more we have to go through.

Very very sorry to hear that JJ1. Sincere wishes to you all. Hope everything works out.

That's good to hear, he seems his normal self this morning but is just very weary which the nurse said was normal, I've told him he has lots of good wishes from the folks at netweather and he is very cheered by that, so thanks again everyone.

Sorry to hear the news JJ1 and a speedy recovery to SM and lots of restPosted Image

Just looked at the radar and the rain in the west seems to be taking a more northerly track rather than a NW one, may we perhaps miss some of the heavy downpours we were expecting in this region today? (I know we could do without any more for a while, that is for sure).

sorry to ask, but what's going on with regards to colder weather, has it gone again?its worse than a roller-coaster this winter!

next week is looking a bit colder, but winter? not really noticed any sign of that in the reliable time frames recently.

Quiet on here today!

A dry day so far here..it's been mostly cloudy though of course, just an odd sunny spell but feeling chillier than of late in the breeze even though it's (still) 8c.

Wonder what this afternoons runs will bring and of course JP's update late this evening.

Just seen the River Crouch at Noak Bridge reached its highest ever yesterday after the heavy rain in the morning, beating the previous record by a fair bit! http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/homeandleisure/floods/riverlevels/120739.aspx?stationId=6129

Looks like more rain in bound now, but hopefully not too heavy.
