Apart from the downpours early this morning and a few meaty gusts this afternoon, it has been a pleasant day here. Took the dog out for a long, if somewhat squelchy walk this afternoon! Roofers have come and looked at the roof. Hopefully they will be back by the end of the week, hopefully! Posted Image

So more rain tonight and tomorrow in the form of heavy showers and hail.. Cool.. I don't care I want snow..

Actually I quite like hail, I'm not sure I might like hail as much as I like snow.

Did not sleep well last night, and the wind blowing stuff up the road did not help, seems even more blustery now than it was last night so things do not bode well.

Just looked out and it seems to be dry still which is a plus.

Yellow Warning of Rain for London & South East England :

Hampshire, Surrey, Greater London, Kent, Medway, East Sussex, Portsmouth, Southampton, West Sussex, Brighton and Hove, Isle of Wight, West Berkshire, Oxfordshire, Bracknell Forest, Reading, Wokingham, Buckinghamshire, Windsor and Maidenhead & Slough

Yellow Warning of Rain for East of England :

Essex, Southend-on-Sea & Thurrock

Heavy showers, some of them combined with hail and thunder, will continue to affect parts of southern and southeastern England at times through the rest of Monday, Tuesday and early Wednesday: the warning has been extended into the first hours of  Wednesday to cater for the increased likelihood of a further spell of rain in similar areas.

The public should be aware of the risk of further localised flooding, especially in areas which have been affected in recent days.

Issued at:

1824 on Mon 6 Jan 2014

Valid from:

1800 on Mon 6 Jan 2014

Valid to:

0600 on Wed 8 Jan 2014

Further bands of showers running into southern counties and across the southeast of England, have the potential to produce intense bursts of rain, these quickly leading to localised impacts given the very saturated ground. Hail will be an additional hazard associated with some of the heaviest showers. It won't be raining all the time, with some drier interludes likely but on the other hand, longer spells of rain may occur, more particularly in the southeast overnight into Tuesday and again, perhaps more widely, overnight into Wednesday. 15 to 25 mm may fall in around 6 hours at any time through this period, with overall 36-hour totals perhaps exceeding 40 mm at a few localities.

Fantastic photo though, although the destruction of a very old structure is not good.

I wonder what the sea defences repair bill is going to be, countrywide, when we're done with this winter?

Another bill for the taxpayer, Eh Steve. Insurance companies must be crying. Higher premiums... absolutely.

It looks like there's an option, imho, with a likely scandi high and cold weather close to the UK. :)

Whether the high is very transitory (if it happens at all) or if the cold can get to us is another matter, but people who punt on these things early will get some kudos, if the event occurs, as people remember these successes more than the failed predictions. :)

Me, I'll wait until the weekend, before I think too much.
