Back in Fairlight near hastings, tiles lifting,a tree down in the road and power set to go as the flickering is getting worse.

Cant recall such a persistant night time wind roar since 1987 here

Had the cat flap locked to keep them in during the storm, but the big bruiser of a tom (ozzy) decided "i`m off!" and promptly bust the catch and buggered off out!

Eek taken from BBC News live link one of those flights we were watching trying to land.

0117: Steve

emails: Still waiting for ground crew to let us off at Stansted after pilot aborted landing from Stockholm at Gatwick at about 300 metres. Think everyone thought they were going to die. Plane being throw about like a toy. Absolutely horrible flight but glad to be alive and glad our pilot earned his applause.

Colleagues girlfriend is on that plane now :(

Where on earth is this guy going?

Just saw that...without comms, i'm not sure.  Unless Gatwick is temp closed and they are hoping for an attempt soon.  They have an alternate for a reason, and should be heading for it.

Lol...and it never ends. BAW166 http://www.flightradar24.com/BAW166

One attempt and one was enough it seems....now howling northbound with the tailwind from hell...was showing 300kts a few mins ago.

Probably just waiting for P1 to come back from the lav with a fresh set of kecks before heading for their alternate... Posted Image

Nothing wrong with that flight imo, landed at heathrow and set off with no probs.

I think I just heard some tiles falling off someone's roof, although I must admit I don't know what that actually sounds like...

I was just watching that flight and it has disappeared!!??!!

Could it have landed in Brighton?

EDIT: Sorry, it has appeared again... don't know what happened there?

Meanwhile it's getting worse than ever out there now. my neighbours table and one of their chairs just went flying past at high speed, and they're made of solid stuff!

Err John yea I have just seen that and been lurking in South West thread.

Ooh another flash. No idea if there is any thunder wouldn't be able to hear it over the wind.

Shoreham has an airport don't think the runway is long enough to cope with that size plane. Glad you saw it disappear as well thought it was my eyes. Oh he's back

Nope, he's still there...just climbing now, so probably gave up on Gatwick in the end....

Quite where he's planning to go is another question.

Anyway, off to 24 hour Tesco for nibbles and experience the weather.  Back soon! :)
