There's an A380 trying to land at London right now

EDIT: Scrub that it was departing from London..

There's a flight coming in from Rome to London now in the middle of the channel, this should be interesting..

Still awake here. If anything, the wind seems to have picked up again in the last half hour. The roaring sound is exactly like I remember from 87.

Youngest son and I sleeping downstairs as our rooms at back of house nearest the trees. We are joined by 3 very frightened cats who are not leaving our sides.

I hate to think what it is going to be like outside when daylight comes. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the house makes it through the night.

Keep safe everyone.

Well I've just realized the time its 2am and I'm still awake I don't think I would still be awake unless this was anything other then exceptional. Worst storm since October 2002 without a doubt still not quite as bad as that though or October 2000.

Both those EasyJet flights which were destined for Gatwick are now following a path along the French and Dutch coast.... The plane from Rome has been in the air for quite some time now.

Last two didn't even bother an approach to Gatwick they just went straight to Amsterdam. Hmm doesn't Gatwick have a limit on times that it can operate.

Winds behind that line of rain exiting london will fall, main focus is in front of that.

Back from Tesco! Looks like everyone had the same idea as me...never seen it busy at 0130!

Strange feeling outside at the mo....feels like Doomsday or something equally silly.  In exposed areas, the gusts are enough to make walking difficult and Tescos' covered walkway is...well..not covered anymore...

Don't usually mind driving in bad conditions, but when even a fairly low profile, sleek hatchback is getting kicked sideways by gusts of wind, it's time to call it a day.

See that EZY made it to Ostend...fairly expedited landing by the looks of it.  No wonder with the fuel he burnt up over the south coast.

EDIT: cancel that...Schiphol and just got down safely.

Not sure why but so far has not been anything other than pretty windy here. Obviously been fortunate.

Nothing like 87 for me, I was in west London for that. It was gusty like this at first and then a gust that was about 90mph started and didn't stop for what seemed like an hour, was only 9 at the time so may have been half hour or so. But in this gust there where even bigger gusts. Hopefully that will not happen again tonight. That's when all the damage happened.

Watching the blue flashes of power lines go up...

Couldn't it be lightning? Some thundery activity was forecast.
