A lot of strikes being detected over W Wales at the moment, come to papa! This is one very active storm.

I have to ask ; is pink anvil crawling lightning normal in January!?

Anything is possible in this country and its crazy weather

On the train from Durham to Kings Cross, seemingly poised to stay with the trough as it moves east :).

Thanks Coast, trough has weakened a bit at York but some awesome skies! Could I meet that South Wales storm?

The way the trains run these days, it's quite likely!

Small thunderstorms here last night and this morning, the one this morning would be the same as Andy mentioned earlier.

Three thunder days already this year...Something must be wrong!?

Just heavy rain here this morning. Cheltenham has missed out again on the storms. Lots of flooding up here and strong winds. The SW has done very well and by the sounds of the storms the lightning has been much more powerful then the lightning in the summer. I'm a bit hesitant that I'll get any storms in the Summer as they always tend to go around Chelt and wander off towards the East Lol. Good reports coming in though.

Jane. I think we need to simply just forget about storms. I don't think ive had a decent one around here now for a good 3 to 4 years.

Had one or two cracks of thunder and thats it. Ive had to travel to find them.

Gone are the days of big MCS's moving up from the south, getting stuck in the valley and hanging around for hours.

It just doesn't happen anymore.

Its been essentially a bit breezy from time to time and mostly moist with some nice clear crisp days.

Dunno what all the fuss is about everywhere else ;)

According to Netweather radar, the low is sat over West Wales, Some very unstable air causing some torrential downpours to occur within 15mins of a shower developing over West Wales. ~ Quite unstable here in Blackwood and of course a little further west where you are ! :)

@Raiden it was a very short lived shower think thats why the police helicopter left rather quick though didn't think they were supposed to fly when lightning is about.

Yes, it was very loud and rolled on and on.

I thought we were in for a full thunderstorm, but it was just that one big rumble.

The noise featured tonight on the Look North news, debating just what it was if not thunder ..

I just heard on the radio (London Heart) that someone only just put the power back on after the Christmas storms. The DJ says that is a long time.
