Yup tonight's frost probably the only sign of winter the rest of the month, seems the trend is now for the dreaded Azores/Euro high to rear it's ugly head by next weekend, the irony is that can be said with 90% certainty, whilst if it was a Northerly or Easterly still being forecast for next Saturday you could guarantee 168hrs of easterly shifts and massive downgrades

Beautiful clear start today but clouds rolling in. Should be a dry day though.

Just read the latest Met Office forecast all the way out to 30 days. Wish I hadn't...really grim reading.

Sleet showers earlier this morning, the third day this month with sleet falling, so at least January 2014 won't go down in the record as the least snowy on record.

That dubious honour goes to January 1989 which had just one day with falling sleet during a brief shower at 0800 on the 28th.

Yes I think time to write Jan off, think the last 10 GFS runs in FI have shown no cold whatsoever, suppose could turn cold on 30th or 31st

Feb and march the real snow months anyway, but sadly not guaranteed snow, Early Jan is traditionally a westerly period, last 3 years had a 7+ CET, nothing unusual about this

Seems a bit cold ^ Leek was reporting 3.6C many other Mids spots nearer 6-8C?

At 2pm my local Met'O site http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/wm/coleshill_latest_weather.html was showing 6.5c, But then at the same time myself/B'ham Airport was showing 4c.

i'm now showing 5.6c..... I'm sure it will drop as soon as the sun sets Posted Image

Yep..more rural temps could fall to, wait for it -3C even a bit below!!!???

I'm sort of in a urban area here but my abode is right next to a big park and it can be a lot lower here than a mile up the road where its a lot more urbanized.

I guess Lilleshall is quite rural so you'll be expecting the -3's thenPosted Image

Yes we've had good winters over the last few years and thinking back i do remember the snowless ones also, We were lucky at times just to get a frost and maybe a flake or two.

Add a touch of chili powder and coriander that'll warm you up.

+3.2C here.... already bits of cloud invading... there's another airfrost chance down the drain.

You should get one -2c at Shawbury:

Temperature's actually going up slightly here! It went down to 1.1o C a couple of hours ago but now it's gone up a little to 2.0oC, however we are on the HIll and not in that freezing cold Severn valley! Posted Image

Ground frost here, too. Currently 1.5oC. Haven't hit the negative numbers so far this winter.
