Strange this feature for tomorrow.  At the moment there's only the GFS that seems to really develop the low.

It's still there on the 6z run albeit a little further south, but its still forecast to pass over the NW around 6pm ish tomorrow.

Remains to be seen if the UKMET pick up on this, nothing much being said at the moment about its (potential) development. At 36 hrs out you'd have thought if they were worried there would have been a mention of it in the forecasts.

I read an article on the daily mirror and it says '' Heavy rain in the NW could fall as snow on Christmas Day''. they also slash some odds for London from 11/1 to 7/1.

There is a stormy spell whole of Monday right the way to Christmas Eve morning.

YELLOW WARNING for WIND for SCOTLAND, NORTHERN IRELAND, WESTERN ENGLAND, SOUTH AND WEST WALES, SOUTHWEST and SOUTHERN ENGLAND.

A very deep area of low pressure will bring very strong winds and heavy rain to much of the UK from Monday morning, through to late Tuesday morning. There is the potential for widespread gales with gusts of 70 mph for much of Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, southern and northwest England. Gusts of 80-90 mph are possible, with the greatest likelihood of these values across west Scotland.

The public should be aware of the potential for significant disruption to travel due to the very strong winds and also the risk of some flooding issues thanks to the heavy rain.

Some very interesting days ahead. The timing of the storm is long.

It looks like some very dangerous weather for the beginning of the Christmas break,in between the LP systems PM air will turn the PPN

To snow over the high ground but not exclusively there is the possibility of the NW  seeing some snow showers more especially later

Sunday, then again later on Christmas Eve,as for a white Christmas still to early to tell all depends on if there is any PM air and PPN on

the day

Good call c.s only problem I see is the pm air mixing out quite quickly due to the vigorous nature of the system , but we could be lucky !!....

correct  even though there might be some snow showers I would certainly not expect any snow to settle on low ground

Just to add deep in FI the new year period might prove some interest

Same here.Just been out for a meal and it's incredible how windy and wet it is out at the moment.

Damp, breezy and a mild 7.6c sums up the start of the day here.

Gales still look to be in the forecast later this evening although the Met O seem to have called this event correctly with the severity being eased somewhat.

The same can't currently be said for Monday though with a good chance that the worst of the current run of storms is set to cause problems across many areas including NW England.
