Good evening all. The wind is really picking up again here now, but the last 24 hours have been noticably breezy already. Gusts of 29mph or more for the last 19 hours and a mean wind speed of 16mph or more since 6pm yesterday evening. Looking at the radar and reading reports from around the country we could be in for a wet, wild and windy few hours this evening and into tonight. A squall line may be heading our way.

If you are out and about take care folks.Posted Image

Ah well, folks.....give it a week or two and we will begin to see the nights sloooooowly drawing out. I'm loving this weather. But I know there are many out there who don't like it. I hope everyone stays safe and well. :)

Was thinking the same thing today. Nights drawing out tomorrow, soon be spring time.

Still very strong winds here in Ippy and it's raining.

Ah, well, if it gets that bad on Monday/Tuesday we can head for the cupboard under the stairs or the downstairs loo. :D

Hi Folks well I knew it was going to be bit windy but I have just driven to London to work and I would say it was a worse drive than when I drove home in the middle of the ST Jude storm, I was being thrown side to side by the gusts plus very heavy squall like showers with instant flooded roads.

could become the most intense period of model watching for a long time as we work out where the storminess is headed this week (and the snowline next weekend - prob scots borders) plus potentially big developments week 2.

Welcome back JP.Posted Image

A weather front is just approaching the west of London now but as per the radar, it looks like a being a short lived and fairly tame affair in this neck of the woods. The associated rain and wind are knocking on my door as I type, but so far not even close to last Thursday evenings lively little feature.

Why haven't we begun to see media warnings about this? I for one am not looking forward to collecting my son from nursery ON FOOT Monday afternoon at 4pm :/

Spare a thought for poor Southernman, he'll be ferrying across the river all night in that.

When was this wind forecasted?

You've not seen my Facebook page recently then ?

I've had a nice hot bath and am all snuggled up in my Onesie trying to read up about Quasi-linear convective systems, it seemed like a good idea but now after a couple of glasses of wine and half a chocolate orange I really can't be bothered Posted Image

Anyway just a quick message to all of you who sent me good wishes for Christmas last year - they didn't work - so... this year can I have money, vouchers and alcohol please Posted Image

Well according to East Sussex roads they have dealt with 50 floods and 30 fallen trees. I think they could class that as a 'dry' run for Monday/Tuesday.

Jules just out of interest where are you getting that information because there are no reported incidents on the local BBC travel news website, and on the Sussex Police website all they mention are roadworks in the county ?

Drove from East Grinstead to TWells and back today mid pm.......roads were atrocious with surface water flooding and blocked drains from leaf-fall!My direct experience of ES Highways is they always plead "no budget"....so I'm pleasantly surprised they have achieved the above metrics on a satruday so near to Xmas!Spot the sarcasm LOL
