Further to the freezing rain risk, this has been issued by the met office valid for Cumbria and Lancashire.

"Yellow Warning of Ice

Issued: 2201 on Tue 19 Nov 2013

Valid from: 0300 on Wed 20 Nov 2013

Valid to: 1000 on Wed 20 Nov 2013

Outbreaks of rain affecting most of Scotland and northern England on Tuesday night will turn back to snow on higher ground in northern areas in the early hours of Wednesday morning, bringing 1-3cm above 300m. As the rain and snow clear Scotland and then northern England later in the night, temperatures will drop sharply leading to a risk of widespread ice for the Wednesday morning rush hour. The public should be aware of the potential for icy surfaces and some minor travel disruption.

The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/links.html

It looks to me as though the precipitation will clear earlier than I thought.

Raining here now. I thought there was a bit of sleet in it but that may just have been wishful thinking. Temperature is dropping slowly now though, so evaporative cooling seems to be having an effect as the precipitation is getting heavier.

Woke up to a covering of snow this morning. Been hailing on and off today. Possibly some more wintry showers tomorrow. Most likely hail though!

I know.... I used to get great snow ( for the se) in faversham..... If you had a south easterly we had pretty good snowfall with wind coming over the downs....plus had -14c one morning after having 10 inches of snow....was a streamer and a front that gave that.... But most times we only had 1-2 inches whilst ashford/ folkestone had drifts 2-3 ft....

your better off up here in a zonal winter because at least you get something, 11-12 was rubbish winter but I still ended up over the course of nov-april with about 10 inches in total"", 2 2inchers, a 3 and a few dustings

CHECK - probably more like 8" actually.

and in 10-11 we only had about 12" in total
