On the model output forum, do they ever look back from where they are now and go either "see, told you so" or "crickey, didnt see that one!" cos its blowing a hooley here and the leaks are back and potential SNOW tomorrow.

nope - don't think they do - constantly searching for weather heaven in some distant time zone - while right now it's murder out there - wind rain etc - thing is it's only really happening to Ireland and Wales so far - not effecting England just yet!

WOW - having most intense rain/hail storm - things turning white already

I could only imagine how intense that would be given our earlier rain. Take some photos / videos please.

only a temporary covering - from the look of the radar it was associated with a squall line coming through - horizontal rain and hail though

Well that was one of the worst drives home ever over the head of the valley.

Squall was very impressive earlier. Must check the weather station. Although I was only getting 18mph gusts earlier. Will change the settings possibly.

Latest from Ian F (on Twitter)

W COUNTRY Trough Thurs PM expected ca 2hrs slower than E4 model suggests. Rain/hail showers widely; lying snow signal remains v muted/absent

W COUNTRY One poss exception, aside maybe Exmoor area, is Cotswolds where trough might prove more wintry. Higher snow chance Midlands/Wales

W COUNTRY More updates on Thursday PM prognosis tomorrow AM, after we see more model handling of this very fiddly situation!

---------------------------------

IMO This is very much worth watching, could be very interesting with so many factories the depth of the cold, local Dew Points, Local Wet Bulb Levels, and intensity of the rainfall. Given the potential rush hours nature of it, well worth watching updates tomorrow.

Wasnt home at the time of when the squall line passed, I was in the car! And WOW it was intense! Just got back home to find a layer of ice (hail) in a corner outside my house. When the squall passed on the motorway it was rain mixed in with hail but my little elevation probably meant that the PPN was likely to be hail to give a slight covering by my house especially for it to last 3 hours after the squall passed! Very surprised!

EURO4 now updating, will it move the PPN further north like the NAE? (From a IMBY perspective, I hope it doesnt!) :p

EURO4 is the new higher resolution version of NAE, so we should take on board what it has to say, even if we don't like the outcome.

(Although I would wish it gave a bit more info, does appear to be a bit scarce in this regard0)

Temp has fallen by a degree or so here in the last hour, just 0.5c atm with a dewpoint of -2.2c. Radar suggests perhaps a bit of snow up towards Llangurig and Newtown at the moment.

And down to freezing now, despite dawn being about half an hour ago.

The location of those sites, so close to the sea does slightly skew the reality.  It was much cooler further inland, and we had a good covering of frost on the cars this morning.

lots of reports of snow falling in the northern half of Ireland.  Could be interesting if that colder air dig down later.
