For these needing south west trains tomorrow, they are advising against travel. They are posting a revised timetable shortly, some routes won't run, some will start at 8am.

Off to chop down a tree that hast stopped banging the roof!

Hi all. Very windy in Ippy now. Had a few drops of rain about ten minutes ago. Been clearing moveable objects, garden furniture and swing and empty flower pots into shed.

Has the 'storm' made landfall yet?

As its school hols and I dont have to be in work till 5pm tomorrow night, im going to stay up, I was awake and witnessed the whole 1987 storm, its surreal to watch, but its also so very worrying, the damage that potentially could happen is very scary, im concerned for my parents in their mobile home mainly but im also concerned for those whom have to go out tonight for various reasons.  Remember 19 people died in 1987 because of a storm - we dont want anyone to die because of St Jude.

A proper storm is where I can't stand up properly, now that's more interesting :D

Be careful what you wish for .....post-10773-0-94167200-1382889834_thumb.j....add another 20-30mph to today's gusts and let's see who's still standing !

afternoon all :)

is everyone ready for later? I've had a little sleep in prep for staying up tonight. Camera batts charged, DS for the kids charged, phones poised to charge later, flask out and it looks like a Yankee Candle retailers in here. I.AM.READY! Really excited but have a little niggling feeling of worry too. Is it safe to venture in the dedicated thread yet? i felt like I needed anger management after going in there a few hours ago.

This buoy useful to monitor as entry point of this low to UK. Should be at near 981mb at midnight if UKMO 12z is correct and if so should give us an indication of what the next few hours after will be like. You can monitor it here.

Just popped down the beach with my boy while the Mrs cooks a roast dinner, very windy down there already as one would expect.

Loads of foam blowing about already, it's building up on the beach like snow and some is even making it up over the cliffs on to the A259.

I think it's going to be fun out there later :)

I've just got my weather station going again with new batteries, hoping to see a 100mph on it tonight lol

getting pretty gusty out there now. Beginning to get a bit worried about it as we are hours away from the forecasted event.

I have taken action though and bought the scooter indoors Posted Image
