Forum problem today (and a few others recently)

Hi all, apologies for today's downtime on the forums, and indeed the intermittent issues we've had over the last 7 days or so. We think we've found the root cause of these now, so hopefully once that fault has been fully rectified normal service will be resumed.

Sorry a few bumps there as we're just making some changes to the forum servers in order to resolve the problems. You may notice a few recent posts have missing images for a little while but they'll be copied to the new server shortly.

Had a problem getting onto the site today on both my work & home computers

 

Seems to come up with a error server message.

When was this Steve, and what was the error message?

At work around lunchtime, and about 45mins ago at home.

 

Not sure what the error message said, but something along the lines of server not responding.

 

Seems intermittent!

I think you may have got unlucky with the timing - the lunchtime problems were us changing the servers about, and this evening was a very brief bump while we made a quick database change. Should be ok from here on in though.

Looks like you've got problems. Again. Slow response at times and netweather extra has died a death.

Seeing no issues here, nw extra and the main site definitely running fine, we've been doing a few things on the forum server this afternoon so there's been the odd slowdown but nothing currently.

It's definitely fine (it's on the same servers as the rest of the main site), I'm seeing your website feed ok as well?

If you do a tracert or traceroute to www.netweather.tv, what's it showing?

On BT it brings up an outdated page it should have updated by now I think.. On Virgin it cannot load netweather  extra whatever I do. Flushing the dns fixed the issue.

Odd, we've made no dns changes in a very long time, so no idea why that should happen, unless their/your cache corrupted somehow.  Re the forecast update, the 12z is running currently, is at the same time as usual and should finish within the next 20-30 mins

I use opendns. Probably Virgin trying to break their network even more although that still doesn't make sense as both should have died.

No server issues currently, I think you may have just hit the server request limit on your ip somehow.

I have not had any hot and cold temps on the netweather home page for the last 10days.

Are you awaare of any problems in that area reported?

No, I don't know of any reasons why that shouldn't show for you. Perhaps clear you browser cache, that may sort it. If not let me know.

Have deleted all my cache options in Internet Explorer, but still no data.

I originally use to get requested to enter my location eery time I logged on, but that has stopped now, However still no temps.

Whether its relevant, I used my notepad on a cruise and had to use the ships internet, I remember it requested my location the first time, but since then it had stopped.
