Northern France is alight with thunderstorms. The Met Office Invent shows these moving towards the SE of England. The area of rain in the SW not as active though, and this is the one that will be heading my way for early tomorrow. So, unless I drive a long way I won't be seeing anything tonight.

Looks like maybe a MCS to me.

If it stays on the same course and does not lose its intensity then it looks like it will track straight over London and surrounding areas.

Is there any likely hood hampshire could see anything this evening?

That's a tough one as it looks like the storms over France could just track east of Hampshire, but its close. Of course, this is assuming any thundery activity makes it to the UK. Although there are already some strikes around Brighton and approaching the SE coast.

I wish I was on the north coast of France right now, imagine being under that. I would imagine very frequent lightning, gusty winds and torrential rain, maybe even large hail looking at the returns.

A no-show here even for the rain, it rained for 20 mins, mainly light with a few heavier bursts, but a afternoon of sunshine and low clouds from time to time. No storms :(

I'm a big supporter of the METO and the BBC forecasts but for about the 5th time in a row a big rain event has been badly over exaggerated for this area. At 8am this morning we would be having rain from mid morning until the evening, light rain arrived mid morning, lasted 30 mins, dried up and then the sun came out.

They seem to be scared they will underestimate rainfall amounts but events will have been cancelled on the back of the forecasts in the last 48 hours. Not good!

If Coast has headed down to Beachy Head he will probably be able see the flashes of that storm from there as it is now into the Channel.

Lets hope that carries on and sustains its strength directly N. I will then begin to have faith!

Very impressive scenario for the beginning of October!!

If it holds its strength over the Channel and heads north (rather than northeast) I will be driving out to meet it.
