Afternoon all. :)

A really horrible day here today. Cold and wet, since quite early. :(

Can't really complain though, as I've had lots of decent weather over the last couple of months.

We have this guy I guess Posted Image

For once the north sea is the place to be, not a cloud in the sky, whilst we sit in yet another unforecasted inversion whilst the rest of the south east gets showers

Afternoon all,

A pretty pants day here to be honest - grey, raining and feeling cold in that breeze.  Certainly a shock to the system!

Good Afternoon everyone,

A really miserable day here in London NW1. My first day back at work after a week in Tossa De Mar. Temperatures everyday in the high 20's/ low 30's. a real diffreence for me today. my wife and I travelled by coach, as she hates flying and coming back about an hour before we arrived at the Pyranees it started to rain. It got heavier and heavier and we entered several thunderstorms along the way. The rain was absolutely torrential and the rosds were completely awash. The rain continued all night and we only entered a non rain area just before we arrived at Calais. It must have been pouring down on the coach for about 14 hours.

I have been unable to read the message board whilst I was away. Can I please show my ignorance and enquire what TOD means.

Many thanks

Kind Regards

Dave

^^ Welcome back Dave, hope you had a good holiday.

TOD = Triangle of Doom. A barren area of wasteland in East Anglia and home to Captain Shortwave and A Boy named Sue amongst others. So named because of it's complete lack of weather I believe !

Cold dull and wet here today, not nice at all.

Afternoon all

A dry but deeply tedious 2 hour journey to the office this morning meant I was much later in than I needed to be, not getting here until 8:30. Hence have been playing catch up all morning. It has been raining pretty heavily for about 3 hours in Harefield and apparently is about the same at home in Reigate. It looks thoroughly miserable out there - 'luckily' I have a whole apple about my person, ready for lunch and don't have to make a dash for the canteen.

It's all glamour for me!

It is lovely and warm which was quite surprising as 50 miles down the road in Hemel Hempstead, its bloody freezing and chucking it down. Loads of spray on the M1 and the usual bumps on the A421 at the black cat. I'm sure the police must attend one of these at least every other day.

Anyway, back home, warmth, butterflies and some weak sunshine.

But...

Saw some gritters/ snow ploughs either out practicing or being delivered along the A1. In 2009/10, I saw this around September/ October time and also in 2010/11 and guess what sort of winters we had...

Is there something the local councils already know?

Should we start preparing?

Should I invest in beans and a shotgun yet?

Only the Prime Minster, Home Secretary and Yamkin are privy to that level of information :winky:

Morning AITS,

A marginal warming up at the end of the week by the looks of things though:

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/se_forecast_temp.html

Blimey, that's going to feel sub-tropical in comparison to the current soggy 11.8°!

Must admit, really wasn't expecting it to be this much below average today. It's 'orrible out there!

EDIT: Make that 11.1°. Amazing for a mid-afternoon in early September. Especially when it was 30° in places a few days ago.

Praise be to Yamkin, his posts ( blatant ramps ) certainly brighten up the dark winter days.

Robin as an aside Im wondering if the photo's you took of that lowering off the coast of Eastbourne could be the same event that was photographed off the coast at Hastings ? There is a link to a photo of that over on UKww, and the photo seems to show a disturbance on the surface of the sea, indicating that it was in fact a waterspout.

I would say it's quite likely given the proximity of the two towns, any thoughts ?

I think it was Martin as the wider one headed due East over there but I thought it dissipated as it got close. I followed the three I saw for about an hour and none seemed to hit the water, although the thinest was almost out of my sight by the time it was nearing Hastings
