After a lull, the rain is getting heavier, the lightning brighter and the thunder louder.. what a good night this is turning into!

So annoyed with my self. This storm grew just north of Doncaster and me thinking it wasn't going to do nothing and now it's exploded!!!!! Could of chased this with a simple drive up the A1m!!

Not close enough to hear the associated thunder, but I've been seeing some good lightning displays from the line of Cb cells to the south.

The lightning is very close and constant, but it has stopped raining.

Know the feeling - one nice storm fired Market Drayton way, so close and yet so far...but yes frustrating it can be.

Been a great storm cheese! Very slow moving!

It was great - not much rain towards the end (or any actually) but constant thunder and lightning. First nighttime storm since May 2009 for these parts. I didn't expect anything at all so I am thrilled! If I don't get another storm for the rest of the year - I won't care as much (but more is always better..).

Only downside - seems to have driven all the daddy longlegs inside!

Really impressive storms to the north. Had to take a walk out onto the open fields looking down on Leeds to watch the light show.

Looked very black and hazy over that way looking from Peterborough earlier on. Can't describe it now, but I'm sure if anything goes boom, I might hear a faint rumble and see some sparks!....... OK its showing lightning here, and I've seen none!! :S

You should chase it if i was you, thats of cause you don't have to get up early in the morning

oh and if you have the transport that is.

This is one of the nastiest storms I've ever seen, I'm on the east side of York and still shaking from the explosion which I think hit a house just round the corner. Never ever seen rain like this. Lightning every 5-10 seconds, constant thunder and the missus is fast asleep.

Flooding in north leeds apparently

Yeah, meteorologist Paul Hudson (BBC Yorkshire weather) mentioned a cloudburst and flooding as he came into Leeds.
