    5 minutes of rain, that was all this frontal system was it appears. Sunny now and very warm

    Currently 24.8C and sunny, as it has been for most of the day except for one wee shower at about 2pm. Not a soggy Monday at all, rather a very pleasnt one, with that wonderful August light. Another delightful summer's day.

    Well the lunchtime rain cleared over and I had a nice few hours on the beach :) Looking very grey to the west now, is there a storm heading my way I wonder?

    Went very dark here 10 minutes ago - have just had 5mins of heavy rain but now calming down to drizzle.

    Blitzortung suggesting a few strikes Sevenoaks way in the last few minutes.

    Sky certainly very dark towards that SW direction from my location.

    The core of the storm sliding up NE through Kent is now producing lightning-

     

    I suspect Swanley sort of area is in the mix now-

    Declining seaside towns in parts of the UK are stuck in a cycle of poverty, a think tank has warned.

    The Centre for Social Justice - set up by Work and Pensions Secretary Iain Duncan Smith - said some towns were suffering "severe social breakdown".

    They were also becoming "dumping grounds" for vulnerable people such as children in care and ex-offenders.

    This has been "further depressing the desirability of such areas and so perpetuating the cycle", it said.
