Beautiful day today and as a local decided to walk back along the beach amongst the weekend visiting DFL's for a while on my way back from a little shopping. It was a shame that the usual Sunday afternoon beach volleyball match that features during the summer wasn't being played though. I love that game!Posted Image

Its the Summer Carnival week starting here, and its great to see that lots more warm sunshine seems likely through the week to help make it a great atmosphere Posted Image and even tomorrow looks to escape most of the rain in this further SE cornerPosted Image

Disappointing afternoon here, cloudy, strong wind and feeling cool. Week ahead looks a bit better thankfully (apart from tomorrow).

Sorry to those in the west and north of our region who had a fairly cloudy day. Here in Kent, being that bit further away from the cloud-bearing fronts, it was gloriously sunny. Put the iPod on and sat in the back garden at 3 "to close my eyes for ten minutes".

Woke up just over an hour later.........with a nose like Rudolf's.

Still looking as if the far south-east is going to miss the heaviest of tomorrow's rain. I notice in the model thread, however, Captain Shortwave has recently mentioned the possibility of some thundery stuff in this corner on Wednesday. Funnily enough, for the whole weekend the MetO home page has shown "thundery shower day" for my location on Wednesday. But just as CS posts that, it has changed to "light rain"!

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

I am the thunderstorm jinx I think Posted Image

Last night I commented about the chance of embedded thunderstorms tomorrow.

Today, bbc says naff all rain in the south east Posted Image

On the other hand look at Friday, metoffice backed off our chances, then boom!

Wednesday looks interesting, We need to be looking south east for developments across the channel.

Well, we're back from the concert, and it stayed dry, though the thickest cloud did produce the odd bit of slight drizzle around 9.00 pm.

Just back from the iron maiden concert at the 02. Wow! Anyway it has started raining past twenty min, rather refreshing.

A bit of rain on it's way later this afternoon?

Quite windy/gusty too as the front moves across our region:

Especially around the East Anglia coastline:

ESTOFEX:

post-6667-0-74466300-1375685557_thumb.pn

British Isles, North Sea region, southern Scandinavia

A strong low-level jet will move across the area from the west, associated with warm air advection. Strong QG forcing will also allow for increasing lapse rates that will overlap with rather rich low-level moisture ahead of a cold front and a following trough axis. Models indicate some surface-based instability across the North Sea and over the southern British Isles in the afternoon and evening hours. However, current thinking is that most storms will be elevated due to the rather cool and dry boundary-layer. Nevertheless, storms will likely merge into a squall line crossing the southern North Sea and moving into southern Scandinavia. Additional storms are forecast over the southern British Isles along an approaching convergence line. Due to the strong vertical wind shear, bowing segments are forecast capable of producing severe wind gusts. Additionally, tornadoes are not ruled out.

Maybe a bit of helical activity later in Cambs/Suffolk/Norfolk as convergence sets up in the gusty winds on North Sea facing areas:

Morning all,

post-10773-0-10409200-1375687660_thumb.j

Bit of a grey and damp start here this morning but hopefully it will improve, I'm going to be spending at least part of my day off at the mercy of the NHS, it would seem according to the walk in centre (or hobble in my case) that I've managed to tear my Achilles tendon if it's partial then it's business as normal (with a limp) but if it's complete and has ruptured apparently I may end up getting plastered (nothing new there I hear you say Posted Image )

......anyway have a good day folks and I'll hop pop back later Posted Image

Morning all,

Damp and overcast here, bit of light rain and 17.8oC in the shed, managed to sleep last night without the window open.

Morning all,

Still far enough away from the system to the west this morning to be honoured with a dry, sunny start to the day. Current temp = 23.2°. Sunshine has been hazy at times, yes, but a big chunk of contrail-and-cirrus-dotted blue now right above. Through which Lufthansa flight 903 from Heathrow to Frankfurt has just flown at low altitude. (Well, that's the flight it was, according to FlightRadar24!)

What a difference down here so far today compared to the west and north-west.

Interesting finger of heavy rain moving east through the Channel this morning. And it has just given off the first strike of the day. (On the French side, naturally!Posted Image )

Seems to be getting a bit brighter here now, cloud is thinning a bit.
