Still snowing and getting heavier. Sitting here in front of the stove, blinds open and watching the snow as it streaks by the lamp post. A lovely evening indeed.

Brilliant Vid SS, that looked like immense fun, loved the bit where at the fork in the road choice was made to go along the road with no tyre tracks :)

Great Stuff :)

Snow back on again here, not even as heavy as before (still fairly intense but with smaller, drier flakes) but covering all cleared surfaces immediately and we have a proper covering for the first time.

Pictures as promised - this is when we went out for our sledge/walk earlier about 2pm. It was blizzarding and we probably should've waited. It's stopped snowing now. There's 9 inches in the middle of the back garden, more at the sides - yes we are the sad neighbours who go out with a tape measure EVERY time it snows.

This is our road with footpath etc, you just can't see it, and there's a lady walking that dog too!

That band that was sitting across northeast England has started to head north (some fax charts are conflicting but I believe this is basically a secondary occlusion) which coincides nicely with the NMM prognosis. Could get a few cms here after all if things go to plan.

Really bad here now - heavy blowing snow and winds gusting from different directions. traffic on the A7 had got going again but is now crawling and theres a car in the field just off the road, sitting there with lights on and been there half an hour. Tractors out clearing the farm roads. Visibility is poor. Glad I cosy and warm with loads of Calor, coal and food. Hamsters know the secret of life!

I would doubt it. Looking at the outlook, wet sleety mess is best chance!

(fingers crossed)

So if the Braer Storm low was 914mb in Jan 1993 and this one is circa 916, what were the other two and furryboots in the Atlantic ? wacko.png

Perhaps right on the coast. I believe that (eventually) we may actually get something this evening. The TAF (aviation forecast) is encouraging for snow over the next 24hrs (except for a sleet risk betwen 9pm and midnight)

Having said that I would not be surprised if we woke up to the same amount of snow on the ground as there is currently!

Have some faith Aberdonians, for one the gaps on the radar to the south are finally closing up, and secondly I'll be leaving work soon so that is bound to coincide with some heavy snow so that Dyce grinds to a halt.

All in the west/central Scotland I have taken a massive sledgehammer to that pesky snow shield. The models and radar should update accordingly and you can thank me in due course :)
