A further 6.8mm of rain overnight here which takes us up to 106.8mm. That now makes it the 2nd wettest April locally in 165 years (the wettest was April 2000 with 132.0mm).

Ironically its more than the entire period 1st November 2011 - 31st March 2012.

160mm here so far compared to average of ~100mm, been the wettest April for years. Plenty more to come too looking at the models, could get to 200mm possibly.

Jan: 155 mm (fairly dry)

Feb: 80 mm (very dry)

Mar: 25 mm (very dry)

Apr: 160 mm so far (very wet)

Year so far: 450mm (average 1,800mm)

Heathrow recorded 105.7mm in April 2000.

I've got the April 2012 rainfall total for Cleadon- exactly 100mm, which would make it the wettest April since 2000, and I think there will be rather more to come during the last two days of the month.

Up to 45mm after today's showers, if the NAE model is right my location could be in for a far bit more rain over the weekend, the monthly total could end up around 75mm here.

A new record for us with 167.2mm a little bit more since I measured it this morning but not much more. If you like messing with stats rainfall in the last 48 hrs is 60.7mm 6 mm less than in june 25th 2007 when all the floods occured in Sheffield. However the real reason why it flooded badly was the 123.5mm which fell in 72 hours from the 14th June. Shows large amounts aren't as rare as newspapers like to make out.

Rainfall so far this year 306.5mm average rainfall is 267.1 showing a huge turn around.

This April is the wettest I have personally recorded.

I hear the River Aire in Leeds city centre burst its banks.. not surprising

Hey how does fairly dry 155mm go to 160mm as being fairly dry to very wet, or is that based upon that statistically Jan should have had more rain??

April's total rainfall is now at 103.76mm for London and counting... 19.08mm yesterday, I wonder how much today will bring. We are so close to the wettest April on record.

Where would that stand Mr Data?

Edit: Just re-read the forums, 105.7mm is the Heathrow April record, this should be broken in the next hour or so??

Up to 110.7mm in this part of London. If this front carries on at its current rate we may have a chance of breaking the last highest recorded month, August 2010 which saw 120.9mm.

Netweather.

Heathrow recorded 105.7mm in April 2000.

Heathrow's station is now on 114.74mm as of 8am. It broke the record for April at 2am or so. Pretty good chance if this continues for the rest of the day, that it could be in the top 5 for Englands rainfall totals for April.
