Arctic Foxes 'Grow' Their Own Gardens

The little carnivores' colorful dens provide veritable oases in the tundra, a new study says.

The photography of arctic wildlife in the vid is superb.

I've spotted 6 frogs in my pond today, spawn absolutely everywhere! The most spawn I've ever seen in my pond to be fair. I'll have to move it to the empty pond though, as it'll get eaten by my Koi.

Dunbar harbour held a nice surprise -  a raft of Eiders sheltering from the stiff breeze out at sea.

The drakes were looking quite fine in their black and white plumage.

A Time-lapse of New Zealand’s Glowworm caves as they have never been seen before. Filming this involved sleeping in caves for multiple days in complete darkness with just the sounds of the cave to keep

Incredible photos ...damn hard to photograph glowworms in the pitch darkness!!

I was down the caves in Waitomo in December (lots of different caves in the area)......but my photos bear very little resemblance to the stunning photography here!

What pointed me in this direction was a photo in today's Times of a group of adventurers abseiling on a 100 metre abseil into the vast underground chamber called the Lost World at the Waltomo caves.:shok:

First spawn of the year overnight! Pond now seething with coupled up frogs so it won't be the last! My frogs have been active all winter again this time so that's two years of back to back frog........ can't speak for the newts though!

Some charming pics, knocker.  The final one, the squirrel, is my favourite

Funny enough it's mine as well. I like watching the Rooks getting their nests sorted but of course there is a slight logistical problem getting a decent photo :)

I  suppose getting good photos of difficult subjects requires some ability in field craft. :)

The pond has a fresh dumping of spawn again. I moved the last lot to the smaller pond, in amongst some weed, and so the Koi do not munch on it. I'm really surprised by the amount this year, there will be tiny  frogs hoping about everywhere in the Summer. Last year, quite a few managed to find their way down to the back door, and littered the porch floor. It's lucky that my cat ignores them! connie_runner.gif
