johnholmes 26,019 Posted September 22, 2012 A lovely sunny and calm start to the day, quite a contrast to yesterday; certainly a cold start with a low of 3.9C here so some places around here may have had a ground frost at dawn, the lowest in my garden since 17 May. the reports from Wx Online show 58 stations have reported a ground frost and 9 with an air frost. My old grandmother, born 1889, had a name for the odd superb day in the middle of unsettled spells. She called it a "weather breeder". ie- an indicator of bad weather to come very soon ..... Incoming change of weather very obvious at present with thickening alto stratus and bands of lower cloud appearing from the west/south-west. Calm before the storm, but a very pleasant one. Partly cloudy with clear spells during the day but again rather cool with a max temp of 13.9C. Currently clear and sunny with a temperature of 11.0C.
