Looking very good already on radar, but nothing much going on around Nottingham area just yet.

I wonder if the Met Office might put out an amber warning? I don't think I'd feel comfortable with only yellow if I was them.

Could be some really high rainfall totals today especially in the areas where showers are most slow moving.

Good luck everyone, especially if you are heading out chasing.

My options are limited today because I have to drive to pick up my gf at short notice anytime between 3 and 6! So I'll probably just watch and hope from my window this time.

Not experienced any storms so far today in Warwick but will be expected a few hopefully, last night there were a few in cloud lightning strikes and mild rumbles of thunder but it was something.

The UK Lightning detector is tracking lightning strikes just near me and there still forming!

So any chance sy8 will get anything?? ludlow that is?? and any1 tell me why clouds go black??? always wondered lol

Cell's all over the place at the moment though mostly sharp showers but its very early yet. Clouds to black because the bases are in shadow. the higher the cloud is the less sun gets through to the base of the cloud basically. Thats why Cb's are usually very black - they reach 1000s of feet into the atmosphere.

No chance of anything here I think as there's a northwesterly wind off the sea, just where you don't want it to come from. I bet there'll be a dry slot here all day on the radar. Hope I'm wrong but I sadly don't think I will be, I've had to many disappointments before.

Come on storms. Getting showers with hot sun in between so hopefully it is convecting that bad boy up.

So storm starved, I think I'd be happy with a little storm.

Tip of the day - I think Lincolnshire/S Yorkshire will get the best action, but, still, I think that anyone in England, virtually, has a chance of a thunderstorm. There's interest in Dorset, too.

Happy Hunting,

I agree with that and think I am going to place myself somewhere between Barnsley and Doncaster this afternoon.

Already quite active in western parts, with 3 thunderstorms currently on the welsh borders near Oswestry in the NW Midlands, another just to the NE near Whitchurch and near Church Stretton, Salops...both quite active...Also a thunderstorm to the east of Worcester, heading towards Stratford...Storms in those regions have a roughly west to east motion

Hull came to mind - maybe slightly more Northerly than that. But, I guess, it's far too early to tell right now.

Little cell rumbling away over my head, see blue sky all around it, no rain falling from it either lol.
