Rather odd I agree because i've only just seen the NAE and its predicting incredible amounts of rainfall across much of E Anglia especially central/N parts of E Anglia.

Looking at the 24hr precip accumalation on the NAE and im hoping its wrong for my location.

According to the latest radar I would include all of E Anglia!!

The Met Office and the Environment Agency have been warning Emergency Planners for a day or two now that this could had the potential to be a significant event. Certainly given the current ground conditions I expect to be busy over the next couple of days. Tide times aren't too bad, but there's a 7m tide progged for later today with an easterly wind at 15-20 mph, we might see a few issues with tidal locking on the later tide tonight on some east coast rivers.

With my area increasingly coming into play for the possibility of very high rainfall totals I'm getting a little jittery

I'd love to say I'm looking forward to this - there's something exciting about torrential rain pounding down - but after being flooded in 2009 and seeing the effect it has on others I understand the misery it causes. In our case it wasn't just furniture and kitchen appliances that were lost; the drowning of two of our cats, having to dispose of decades-worth of photographs, christmas decorations and toys, which along with having your home flooded with four foot of muddy, stinking water and not being able to live there for five months was absolutely devastating.

So, frankly, despite some people craving this sort of weather, I'd be more than happy for the forecast to go tits-up with the worst of the rain ending up in the North Sea. Of course, that's not looking likely and there are there'll be some pretty miserable homeowners this time tomorrow.

Well my house won't be hit by flooding as there are no rivers around here.....I obviously empathise with those who will be affected though. Don't think the heaviest of the rain will hit here in any case. Should be a good day for some though from a weather enthusiast perspective.

Doesn't have to come from a river: we were flooded by blocked drains which had been neglected for years. Debris just built up which nobody knew about until it was too late.

But yeah, I'll be keeping one eye on the sky and radar because I really like watching it spread in, and the other eye will be kept firmly on the drains in the road outside. good.gif

No sferics at all, so dissapointing its unreal no storms this year. Dissapointing considering we are meant to have 14 days of thunder heard a year!

Yes the radar is exploding with convection ahead of the front, some very intense echoes showing. Lightning strikes across the North sea and Wales too.

Yes a line of extremely heavy showers about to affect NE England these will have strong winds, torrential rain and lightning.

Round 2 for Newcastle?

Radar below.

Anything in a black box will have lightning or thunder.

Calm before the storm here, very foggy/misty with a mild breeze. Strange weather you would expect on coastal fringes

But can these remain intact as they move inland and give us a nice show this morning? :)

Yes because the one that is heading for Yorkshire is the one that the warning is for, whether it keeps the lightning remains to be seen though.

:)
