Today we're going to head to SW Oklahoma and target the cold front storms, initially heading to Clinton. It's my borthday today so hoping to be treated to a lovely supercell biggrin.png

On our way down we've just passed through the town of La Crosse, KS where we saw the several night time tornadoes. We surveyed the damage from the EF1 tornado that went through the south side of town and caused some some quite bad structural and tree damage. Myself and John went to the RV park after speaking to some locals to see 3 places on the grass where mobile homes used to be and a big dumpster next to it with the remains of the homes in sad.png

We have some pictures so will upload them when we get chance hopefully tonight smile.png

Yep here's hoping for a great birthday treat.

Actually just seen the pretty decent mid level lapse numbers and big hail is the dominant feature this evening - hard hats at the ready.

Tor threat increases mid to late evening in your target area.

Three large supercells each with extremely large hail and I mean big 4" 3.5"

we wended our way through a gap between two of them. The gap started to close and we had to put our foot down

just a few clips joined together

As there is no thread yet for today (day 20) I am just noting that storms should be quite widespread and in a rather disorganized north-south arc (reverse C) from about OKC to DFW and some distance west. By tonight this may organize into a powerful system but heavy rainfall may be the main risk by then (in eastern OK). Tomorrow (day 21) looks like somewhat of a repeat although a better storm chase situation might develop around Abilene or San Angelo as high dew points are advected northwest by developing low pressure. This would morph into a powerful overnight system (Wed night into Thursday) in Oklahoma that looks capable of dropping huge amounts of rainfall (150-250 mms) in Tulsa and Muskogee regions. Would have to think that tomorrow afternoon could get quite volatile in north central TX once this begins to move.
