Right stay calm CSS there is every chance that it will all change again on the next run....we all expected a wobble....if the next run is good that will be 3 out of 4 and if we get 75% decent runs everyday that favours the snow and cold u would take that.......tonight i predict whilst on lampost watch the cold will run again on the models and I will see the first few flakes of the cold snap....just went out to the garage and a very noticeable change in the feel of the air...

Its only the weather so lets chillllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll in -8 uppers tomorrow

Yes, all those negativity is in FI although there are some good trends for northern blocking later!

Let's look at the reliable 72hrs for Alba.

Right now there are showers out in the North Sea moving west.

Uppers are good enough for snow - I expect that those in the east will see one or two snow showers.

Those in the east coast may enjoy some snow showers out of this.

Snow for east coasters

Pretty good for those in the NE

Not Bad, eh!

If everything just moved a bit further west then things could be pretty good.

Very good, cold pooling around, at about -8/-10C, and it looks like it may stay intact whereas before it was a dead front going back but now it looks as though it's going to pick up moisture and head back reinvigorated. Could end up giving us a big dumping, I've seen similar charts turn out to bring major snowfalls. Equally it might be a complete let down, but at least we're in the ball park now.

LOL the forecasters sign off... :)

a dead front? is that technical or do you just mean one which lacks energy?

I've forgotten the name of it, but it's an occlusion that's still technically there but doesn't really act like an occlusion, it's got dotted lines.

Anyway, the easterly has been upgraded up to +96 hours from what at one point looked like a southeasterly drift. After that we'll just have to wait and see.

Awww. TWS says game over for a sustained easterly

I'm sure these gifs may be funny- but there is no need for the same ones-- people can view this thread by phone and it can make it very hard for them. Also, you've made quite a few posts on other peoples' reactions to the model output- and models in general, without looking at the next 96 hours. I think some calm is needed- remember mesoscale is the best way to go.

Why? The technical outlook looks very positive, I'm sure GP doesn't follow every NWP output and base his opinions on them- the background signals are very good.

Also.. the gif...

People have been getting far too ahead of themselves on this cold spell, cross model support was only ever been outliers! Then the inevitable disappointment, even the 12z is a cold outlier! 3 days of coldish weather then back to the usual rubbish.

Gosh, I really need to remind myself of the potential the coming days have in store with the easterly. It'll be fun to watch :)

still quite a bit of snaw lying here after thursdays heavy fall.more today but was light and never lay with a day high of 1.2c.this week looks like the western parts could well see severe frosts and eastern areas could get lucky and get a few snaw showers but nothing really special on the cards

lol well i have spent all afernoon on phone to virgin and sorting my broadband...seen the message with someone asking about any reports and thought better go look out....same discovery as you lol....i suspect has been very light rain....blinds now fully open and laptop repositioned.... temp stil sitting at 3 though would like to see that drop fairly soon but to be honest looking more like midnight till will turn to snow here and there is little action on the radar just now...although on raintoday it does show at 7.50 and 9ish light falls of sleet however it has a programmed se flow and for the last hour here the wind is direct east!!

I too am concerned at the mood swings in here as i was attracted to this place by the chill out attitude, passion for weather and love of off topic posts and funny people like you and many others.....

anyway I dont believe the firth looked like a bottle..if it did you would have drunk it by noo :drunk:
