Frequent showers during the day, with a bit of a strong breeze. Heard reports the A1 down by Disforth etc and A66 coped the really nasty winds this afternoon.

Looks like heavy snow for the scottish mountains the morn.

Been generally dry here today, but the wind strong and gusty at times.

Bit of a rollercoaster on the ensembles....

Are signs of some quite warm air making temporary inroads before back to normal.

Evening all... Warm and windy day, still muddy underfoot in parts from yesterday but overall much nicer with sun at times.

Had a short listen of paradise just now - finding some old blues guitar music rather excellent. :good: :good: especially with new amp/phones set up :good: :good:

Congrats to SS on report completion. Finished one of mine earlier this week too but already done my :drinks: so mebbe no more tonight.

I have tried Raspberry and Bramble, and the Bramble was by far the better of the 2

Ditto, might have to sample the Cherry one, don't do White Wine.

Anyway.... wind still howling here, 12' trampoline now tethered to the deck!!! Temp 12.1C

Go to Alsace to get cured of your dislike of white wine. That's what happened to me a few years ago, now drink as much white as red, single-handedly keeping the French economy afloat. :help::drunk::crazy:

Overnight rain clearing out now, hints of blue appearing to the west.

Sun's come here after a grey and wet morning. Wind still blustery and strong at times. 11.3 C

See the MetO are at it again with cold for the north in their 15+ dayer

UK Outlook for Sunday 17 Apr 2011 to Sunday 1 May 2011:

The second half of April looks to see a general change in weather type, with more changeable and unsettled conditions compared to the start of the month. Temperatures for the period look to exhibit a north-south split, with much of Scotland and Northern Ireland on balance seeing below or well-below average temperatures for mid-spring, though also seeing some significantly warmer days at times. England and Wales will be nearer-normal, possibly creeping a little above at times in central England. Rainfall amounts should be around typical countrywide, with Northern Ireland possibly seeing a little less rainfall than usual, whilst the opposite side of the UK and East Anglia may be slightly wetter. Despite the spells of rain, much of the country should see average or a little above average sunshine hours.

Thanks SS. Nothing surprises me. We are still quite likely to get a cold snap with snow. The difference at this time of year it is unlikely to last more than a few hours.

Well this ties in with my normal turnout date of 20th April when the cattle go out to grass. As I said on the model thread a few days ago I have lost count of the times in the last 40 odd years we have put the cattle out in fine warm weather only to see them huddle in a corner with their backs to the wind with snow and grauple showers a few days later. This necessitates continuing a winter diet in the field plus lots of magnesium blocks to counter the shock change in conditions.

P.S. I went to St. Andrews Uni, so him and I have probably shared the same throne (e.g. in the Union) at some point.:D

EDIT, just thinking..the above probably has more truth to it than I thought. I distinctly remember someone had written above the bog roll dispenser 'Art History degrees - please take one'. :whistling:

The mythical April showery day today, some of them rather wintry with a little elevation. More to come this week. Waterproofs earning their keep for a change.

Hi people. Apologies, not posted for a wee bit. Been over in the the New York. Managed to coincide my visit with unseasonably cold conditions for the time of year. Endured a windchill that laughed in the face of my numerous layers of clothing and left my face with a permanent wtf?? expression. The locals were saying it was the coldest they had felt since the start of the year. It's not often I step out the airport in Scotland and apprieciate the warm breeze :D ( Though as HC has eluded to it was actually fairly chilly earlier today so there have been some wintry showers around, just small granules mixed with the rain here but i'd expect that would be snow not too much higher than my bit}

Soon be time to await the arrival of those annoying bas**rds who first arrive round here with their nonsense near spring and spoil the ambience , not campaigning conservatives, but swarms of midges of course. A nice april snowfall to reduce their numbers would be dandy, so here's hoping

Evening all, well most season's in a day record almost went today, all that was missing was the white fluffy stuff. Had rain, hail, wind, sun and so on, but all ended with a cracking sunset, and now clear skies with a slight breeze. 7C currently.

Ha ha ha ha - so true - Art History was the ultimate blag at Uni !!

Funnily enough, one of my most reliable suppliers of weed at uni was an art historian (definitely not William's pater, I think he had Labour hierarchy family) . Had some wonderful evenings in his flat listening to erm best not say too embarrassing ok PIL, magazine, genesis, steve hillage etc  and looking at his art books  . All good fun, better than the pillocks whose idea of fun was chucking tellies from 20th floor windows...

TWO reports completed this weekend!! Ok they were short... :whistling:

Breezy and chilly but generally dry here, nice sunny evening too now and the warmer air finally starting to reach here.

Met O have a nice couple of days and milder too for the NE so may make the most of it an down tools and get on with some outside chores. 16C with sunny intervals tomorrow, 19C and sunny intervals Wednesday. sounds good to me.

I hope it pees down all day for the royal wedding. :D Och no, I don't really - just can't understand what all the fuss is about. Just a bloke that eats, sleeps and visits the throne room like the rest of us; albeit he's extremely rich due to taxing the populace over history. Guess it's obvious I'm not a royalist.

Is looking really quite warm mid-week. If we're lucky, could get a thunderstorm.

Drops again before another warmer interlude then general trend to more seasonal:

http://www.netweather.tv/ensimages/ens.20110404/06/t850Midlothian.png

High pressure trying to make inroads once again, so could be on for a nice spring/early summer at times.

I presume you are referring to the common or garden variety :whistling:
