I've negotiated having the Weathereye WEA24 Comprehensive Weather Station for Christmas:

Product Weblink

I know it's a bit of a cheap option, but there were 3 reasons for that:

1) General financial restrictions

2) It's the first time I've had a weather station and I didn't want to spend too much on one too soon

3) My garden isn't secure, so I don't really wan to put more expensive outdoor equipment in it

Does anyone have any useful hints and tips about this weather station please (i.e. not "get a different one"!)? A couple of questions have sprung to mind which aren't covered by the rather poor instructions:

1) Can the outdoor sensor actually be out in the open, or does it have to be kept in an outbuilding or under a car port because it's not waterproof?

2) On a barometer, you need to adjust it based on height above sea level. I would have expected this to be the same for the weather station (which displays atmospheric pressure), but the instructions don't say anything about that and there doesn't appear to be any way of adjusting it anyway.
