It must be comforting to know that when the temperature begins to fall around sunset it will continued to do so, almost uninterrupted, until dawn the next day. Unfortunately that is almost never the case here!

After a sunny start it became cloudy here around 1100 and has remained mostly cloudy ever since with a broken sheet of Stcu for much of the time. Below freezing all day and I would estimate the temperature at about -2.5c, the lack of accurate measurement due to being at work.

Its much the same here aswell, being 8 miles from the coast means all it takes is a change in wind direction and the temperature rises. -10C has only been reached twice in 28 years (Feb 1986 and Dec 1995) and both of those were exceptional circumstances.

After a cold and clear start with a min of -5.2C it has been a mostly cloudy day with occasional snow flurries. These then retreated back to the coast in the evening and it has been clear since then. Maximum temperature was 0.2C, so just missing out on a third consecutive ice day.

Currently cold and clear at -5.4C. The lowest in this cold period has been -7.9C, so if it stays clear (see above) then it might be under threat tonight. Mean snow cover stands at 2.0cm.
