We've just had a short sharp snowfall, an inch of snow and I have to say I'm impressed that a band of snow made it all the way from NE Scotland to the far west of Central Scotland. I think most of Scotland has a covering of snow now, amazing!

Now at 5.15am quite a few sharp and more prolonged snow showers around, even for

the north west region. Then an analysis and forecast model for 8.00am showing

more organized and perhaps even persistent heavy snow for some this

morning, merseyside / cheshire.

2 Inches of lying snow, and no thaw whatsoever during the night.Clear spell and snow showers currently.Temp around 0c.

variable cloud after the snow last night=2cm, CuSc and Ci, temperature is -1.2C, the min earlier was -1.8C

About an inch here too, which proves it got a bit further inland last night. Currently -1.1 after a low of -3.1C.

Cloudy, cold and breezy after heavy snow early this morning; a few light flurries every now and again and slight drifting of the snow in exposed areas.

Temp' is -2.0c after a min' of -2.8c and a grass min' of -5.0c

Mean wind speed, 24 mph N/NE

Don't know what the rainfall is as the snow from the gauge hasn't thawed yet.

There has been a snowfall overnight, leaving an even powder covering of around 2 cm, this was accompanied by a widespread severe frost, low –5.9c, with –9.6 on the snow cover.

Sky: 3 Oktas, Cirrus, Stratus fractus.

Temperature: -2.5°C

Wind Direction:3-4 NE

Humidity: 96%

Barometer:1006mb rising slowly.

Conditions: struggling to get above freezing, we had a slight temp increase but the temperature dropped slighty. It is currently 4/8Okt

Well, by half past eleven the temperature has reached a staggering high of -3C at Glasgow Airport, I wonder if we will reach freezing today? It is going to be so cold tonight, -10C anyone?
