Great Dun Fell (847 m) 81 mph

Aberdaron (94 m) 81 mph

Were the highest up to including 6pm, but these are very likely to be bettered, perhaps as early as the 7pm update.

Yes Aberdaron was mentioned on the Bbc in Wales also at 81, 92 was not mentioned for Capel Gurig I think we can certainly discount that for NOW.

Am I the only person to have guessed at Great Dun Fell? I decided to be a little conservative after mixed feelings last night. Wish I hadn't been now. How is this being judged anyway? Unlikely that anybody will get both the location and velocity correct?

Edit. Just seen that Tucco is the only other person to guess Great Dun Fell....and is pretty damn close at 102mph!

Great Dun Fell is an official meto station. It's probably the single most studied site on the network over the last 30 years. Data from the site is used by several universities in various atomspheric studies.

both are official sites, Capel is much lower than Gt Dunn Fell, so it depends whether a high level station is acceptable or not. Everyone had a free choice for place (within the limits given at the start) and speed.

To quote the original from R-R-R

Take a guess of the maximum gust speed that is recorded over Thursday and Friday, and where it occurs. The closest to the Met office observation wins!

There was no mention of height being not acceptable.

Well done to those who got close and indeed on the mark ^.

Wish I'd have touched up on my UK geography, I thought Isle of Man was part of the UK. :whistling: Schoolboy error.
