Valley - 101mph

Just thought I'd let you know I chose that gust and location earlier (see post number 8 ), so perhaps you'd better change if you want a chance of winning

Thanks Paul!

As the stakes are high(!), maybe the rules should be a bit more official-like!

It wasn't really stated in the first post, but are we going with closest gust with the correct location? What if someone gets the gust bang on but the wrong location?

Also as i started the topic am i allowed to rule out other guesses for minor infringements and declare myself the winner?

I reckon that the winner should be nearest in numerical value. If two or more people guess the same, then that person with the closest position to the UK weather station that recorded the gust. If there is still a tie then the person who posted first should collect the booty! How does that sound RRR and Paul?

I reckon it needs to be location as the first selector, otherwise in theory someone could get the number correct but chose a spot on the other side of the country and beat the person who got the right place but was 1mph out.

So:

Location = Vital

Speed - closest person with correct location wins, but with the proviso that they're within 10 mph (just to add some skill!!)

If no-one fits that criteria then it falls back to matching the speed, if 2 or more people have the correct speed then it's the person who's guessed closest to the location. In the unlikely event of a tie at that point then the person who posted their entry first wins!

campbeltown 94mph is that classed as the mainland :cc_confused:

Machrihanish is the MetO site name. Good guess for location Milkmaid but '97mph Machrihanish' is my call on this one.

96mph - St Bees Head

I'm not sure if stations like Great Dun Fell are Met Office stations? if it is then probably higher there so I'll change my guess to 112mph at Great Dun Fell, If that Isn't a MetO station I'll stick with St Bees Head.
