Late October 1890

There was a short cold burst at the end of October 1890

Some reports

Broxbourne: Heavy snow fell at midday on 26th

Orleton: Snow covering the high ground to a depth of about 1.5 inches on 26th

Southwell: Heavy snow 1.30pm to 215pm with large flakes

Brantinghamthorpe: One inch of snow

Montmouth: Hills covered with snow

Melrose: Hills white with snow

Thixendale: First fall of snow, trees full of leaves on 27th

Bury St Edmunds: Snow fell on 26th

Woolstaston: Snow fell lightly on 25th and following two mornings

Manchester: Sleet on the 28th

Dublin: snow and sleet on the morning og the 26th

Omagh: Heavy snow on the night of the 25th

Some very low October minima were also recorded

Leicester: -8.9C on 27th

Derby: -8.9C on 28th

Camden Square: -4.6C on 28th

The last couple of days of the month were milder as the winds backed westerly
