Initially, daytime temperatures will be close to the mid September average, but becoming rather cold by the end of the next week. Into next weekend and the following week, the unsettled and rather cold conditions look set to continue, with almost all areas seeing further rain or showers at times, including a risk of some snow over northern Scottish mountains. By the end of this period, there is a chance of someone warmer and less unsettled weather developing in the south.

The heaviest and most persistent rain is most likely in the north and west, with a risk of gales in exposure. Initially, daytime temperatures will be close to average, but should fall below normal by the end of the next week, with chilly nights expected for many throughout. Later in the period, the unsettled and rather cold conditions look set to continue, with most areas seeing further rain or showers at times, including a risk of some snow over Scottish mountains. Towards the end of the month, there is a chance of less unsettled weather developing in the south.

Nights, meanwhile, will tend to become a little milder as the change to unsettled conditions brings more cloud across the country.
