UK Outlook for Wednesday 19 Sep 2012 to Friday 28 Sep 2012:

Largely unsettled throughout. At first, generally showery, then the latter part of next week will see some longer outbreaks of occasionally heavy rain, particularly for northern and central parts of the UK. Strong winds at times, especially in the northwest. The south should see the best of the drier conditions. Feeling cool in wind and rain, but temperatures close to normal in sunny spells. Next weekend turning generally unsettled and rather cold, with showers of longer spells of rain for most parts, and only brief drier interludes. Generally breezy, and temperatures widely below average, though closer to normal in the southeast. Thereafter, a generally cool and unsettled spell with showers or longer spells of rain.

UK Outlook for Thursday 20 Sep 2012 to Saturday 29 Sep 2012:

A generally unsettled period, with much of the UK seeing showers or longer spells of rain. The heaviest of the rain is likely in the north and west, where it will be accompanied by some strong winds at times, and a risk of gales in exposure. Initially, daytime temperatures will be close to the mid September average, but becoming rather cold by the end of the next week. Into next weekend and the following week, the unsettled and rather cold conditions look set to continue, with almost all areas seeing further rain or showers at times, including a risk of some snow over northern Scottish mountains. By the end of this period, there is a chance of someone warmer and less unsettled weather developing in the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 22 Sep 2012 to Monday 1 Oct 2012:

Initially dry, bright and chilly weather should gradually be replaced by cloudier conditions and outbreaks of rain over the weekend, with eastern parts most likely to hang onto fine weather for longest. Generally unsettled conditions will then prevail for much of the working week, with showers or longer spells of rain affecting many parts, and with fewer sunny spells than of late. Daytime temperatures during this period will tend to be near or slightly below average, leaving a rather chilly feel to conditions during bouts of wet and windy weather. Nights, meanwhile, will tend to become a little milder as the change to unsettled conditions brings more cloud across the country. Towards the end of September into the beginning of October there are signs of less-unsettled conditions starting to develop.

UK Outlook for Friday 28 Sep 2012 to Sunday 7 Oct 2012:

The weather is likely to remain unsettled for much of this period, with showers or longer periods of rain affecting many parts of the United Kingdom. It is also likely to become windy at times, with a chance of gales in exposed parts. However, there should also be some drier and brighter interludes, particularly towards the south, and there are some signs that the south of the UK may become less unsettled towards first weekend of October, with more in the way of dry, bright weather here. Daytime temperatures will tend to be slightly below average at first, but should recover to nearer normal for early autumn, especially during any drier and brighter periods which develop.

UK Outlook for Saturday 29 Sep 2012 to Monday 8 Oct 2012:

After a mainly settled start to the weekend, conditions will soon turn more unsettled again as rain spreads southeastwards across the UK later this weekend. Changeable weather is then expected through next week with showers or longer periods of rain affecting most regions. It is also likely to become windy at times, with gales in exposed regions. However, there should also be some drier and brighter interludes, particularly towards the south, and there are some signs that southern UK may become less unsettled again towards first weekend of October. Daytime temperatures near or just above average at first then probably turning a little colder next week before recovering to nearer normal for early autumn later, especially where conditions turn less unsettled.

UK Outlook for Sunday 30 Sep 2012 to Tuesday 9 Oct 2012:

Cloud and outbreaks of rain will spread slowly southeast across the UK through Sunday and into Monday. Changeable weather is then expected through much of next week with showers or spells of more persistent rain affecting most regions. It is also likely to become windy at times, with gales in exposed northwestern parts. However, there should also be some drier and brighter interludes, particularly towards the south, and there are some signs that southern UK may become less unsettled again towards first weekend of October. Daytime temperatures near or just above average at first then probably turning a little colder next week before recovering nearer normal for early autumn later, especially where conditions turn less unsettled.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 2 Oct 2012 to Thursday 11 Oct 2012:

The period should start with sunny spells and showers, with these showers heaviest and most frequent in the northwest of the UK, coupled with a risk of thunder. This showery pattern will in turn give way to more persistent rain for a time, moving from the northwest around midweek, with further sunny spells and showers following. It will be windy at times for much of the period, with northwestern areas most likely to experience gales. Temperatures will be generally near-normal to start, with northern areas falling a little below through the first week, allowing wintry showers over Scottish mountains. Beyond the first October weekend, unsettled conditions should continue in northern parts, while southern areas may become less unsettled, with a chance of lengthier dry spells.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 3 Oct 2012 to Friday 12 Oct 2012:

A mixture of bright or sunny spells and showers to start, the showers heaviest and most frequent in the northwest, with a risk of thunder. More persistent rain will spread from the northwest on Thursday. For the end of the week and into next weekend, conditions look to remain changeable in the north and west, but perhaps generally drier and more settled in the south and east. Thereafter, it is likely to turn more unsettled for all of the UK. Windy at times for much of the period, with northwestern areas most likely to experience some gales. Temperatures will be generally near normal, perhaps a little above in the south and east in the drier and brighter interlude, with a drop in temperatures later in the period.

A mixture of bright or sunny spells expected for the weekend with some showers across the north and east. Generally light winds for all, breezy in the northeast at first. Chilly Saturday night, with a widespread frost developing. As a result, some frost and fog is possible during the overnight periods. There are indications for a return of more unsettled conditions mainly across western areas towards the end of the period with showers or longer spells of rain at times. UK Outlook for Sunday 7 Oct 2012 to Tuesday 16 Oct 2012:

After a chilly start on Sunday with a widespread rural frost and some fog patches, it will become brighter with sunny spells and light winds for all. However, cloud and probably some rain arriving in the west later. There are some uncertainties in the forecast going into the new working week, though current indications are for a settled and dry start with spells of sunshine in the east. As a result, some frost and fog is possible here during the overnight periods. More unsettled conditions are likely across western areas with showers or longer spells of rain at times and becoming increasingly windy, and these conditions may spread further east later. Temperatures likely to be below average at first, but returning nearer to normal by the end of next week.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 Oct 2012 to Wednesday 17 Oct 2012:

Unsettled conditions with rain across southern and western parts should spread to remaining areas early in the first week, followed by brighter, showery weather. This pattern of occasionally heavy spells of rain, alternating with brighter, showery interludes should then continue for much of this period. Occasionally strong winds will also feature, with a risk of gales, chiefly in western parts and perhaps severe gales in exposed western areas at times. Temperatures should trend away from near-average values to probably become rather cold, with winds tending to veer more northwesterly, also giving an increasing risk of snow on Scottish mountains. The second week should start unsettled, but with weak hints of a drying trend by the end of the period, temperatures may rise slightly above normal, especially in the southeast, later.

Unsettled conditions will move into all areas, after perhaps a drier start in northeast Scotland. Rain will turn heavy and possibly thundery at times. This will be followed by brighter, showery weather. This pattern of occasionally heavy spells of rain, alternating with brighter, showery interludes should then continue for much of this period. Occasionally, strong winds will also feature, with a risk of gales, chiefly in northern and western parts. Still mostly unsettled through the second week especially in the north, but probably some longer drier spells developing in the south where temperatures may rise slightly above normal.
