UK Outlook for Saturday 13 Aug 2016 to Saturday 27 Aug 2016:

The generally changeable conditions across the British Isles are likely to continue through mid to late August. Further spells of rain are expected to push in from the west, interspersed with drier, brighter and warmer periods, but also with some showers at times. Northern and northwestern parts should have the wettest weather, with the south and southeast seeing the lengthiest dry and fine spells. Some large swings in temperature remain likely, although overall it should continue to average out at close to or slightly below normal for August.

UK Outlook for Thursday 4 Aug 2016 to Saturday 13 Aug 2016:

An area of rain in the southeast should clear away to the east on Thursday to leave generally brighter, breezy and showery conditions across all areas through Friday and into the weekend. Through the rest of the period indications are that changeable conditions will prevail. This means that there will be intervals of dry, sunny weather interspersed with periods of rain or showers and strong winds. Northwestern parts are likely to see the heaviest rain and perhaps unseasonably strong winds at times whereas the southeast should experience the best of the drier, brighter weather. Some large swings in temperature are likely, although overall it should average out at close to or slightly below normal for the time of year.

UK Outlook for Friday 5 Aug 2016 to Sunday 14 Aug 2016:

Fresher and showery weather for most on Friday, though eastern and northeastern parts may see more frequent showers. Breezy too, though winds will tend to ease as a brief settled spell takes hold into the weekend. Through the rest of the period, conditions are likely to remain changeable with intervals of dry, sunny weather interspersed with periods of rain or showers and strong winds. Most parts are likely to see some heavy rain at first, though later in the period the heaviest rain and strongest winds should be in the northwest with the best of any drier and brighter weather further south. Some large swings in temperature are likely, although overall it should average out at close to or slightly below normal for the time of year.

UK Outlook for Monday 15 Aug 2016 to Monday 29 Aug 2016:

A continuation of the changeable regime seems the most likely scenario through mid-August with drier, brighter and warmer weather interspersed with showery spells or prolonged rain and strong winds. Northern and northwestern parts should have the wettest weather, with the south and southeast seeing the lengthiest dry and fine spells. Some large swings in temperature remain likely, although overall it should continue to average out at close to or slightly below normal for August. However, there is a small chance of a more widespread settled spell developing which could bring bright and warm weather for many and temperatures above normal.

UK Outlook for Saturday 6 Aug 2016 to Monday 15 Aug 2016:

Across northwestern parts, the weekend will be fairly unsettled with temperatures close to average. There will be outbreaks or rain interspersed by bright spells and showers, with a risk of strong winds at times too. Southeastern areas are expected to see a good deal of dry and fine weather, with temperatures becoming warm, perhaps very warm, with a humid feel. Through the rest of the period dry and bright weather is likely to dominate across southern areas, with just occasional brief spells of rain or showers. Further north rain or showers will be more frequent, but even here there will be lengthy dry and fine spells. Temperatures are very uncertain, with further warm spells possible in the south, but also the chance that a generally cooler spell may occur.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 16 Aug 2016 to Tuesday 30 Aug 2016:

A gradual trend to a more changeable regime seems most likely through mid to late August. With this we would expect spells of dry, bright and warm weather interspersed by showers or longer spells of rain and possibly strong winds. Northern and northwestern parts should have the wettest weather, with the south and southeast seeing the lengthiest dry and fine spells. Some large day to day swings in temperature are likely in this changeable regime, although overall they will probably average out at close to normal for August.

UK Outlook for Monday 8 Aug 2016 to Wednesday 17 Aug 2016:

Monday will be breezy with outbreaks of rain moving east across most the country, followed by fresher, showery conditions. In the southeast it will be dry, bright and pleasantly warm for much of the day, before the rain arrives to introduce the fresher, cooler conditions country wide. The rest of next week should be mainly dry in the south, whilst more unsettled and sometimes windy weather could affect the north at times. Changeable conditions are most likely to continue through to the middle of August, although the south and west should see some reasonable dry and sunny periods. Temperatures are expected to be below average overall, with some chilly nights and local grass frost, particularly in the north.

UK Outlook for Thursday 18 Aug 2016 to Thursday 1 Sep 2016:

The heaviest and most persistent rain is likely to occur in the north and west, with the best of the drier weather in the south and east. Temperatures are likely to remain generally on the cool side, with some chilly nights when skies clear and winds fall light.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 9 Aug 2016 to Thursday 18 Aug 2016:

Cool, showery conditions are expected at first. The most frequent showers are likely in the north and perhaps east, where there may be strong winds at times and some longer spells of rain. The south and west should be drier overall. Towards the middle of August the weather may turn more changeable with a greater chance of more persistent rain, although with warmer temperatures at times. Brighter, cooler and showery spells are also likely with the south probably seeing more in the way of dry weather. Temperatures are expected to be below average overall, with some chilly nights and local grass frost possible, particularly in the north at first. Later in the period temperatures may average out to nearer normal, although with some marked swings possible day to day.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 Aug 2016 to Friday 19 Aug 2016:

Cool conditions with sunshine and scattered showers are expected on Wednesday 10th, with the most frequent showers likely in the east where it may also be windy. The west should be drier overall. Then on Thursday 11th most places are likely to become dry and bright. Thereafter the current indications are that there will be a change to warmer conditions, with a north-south split probably becoming established. The weather in northern areas is likely to be more changeable and occasionally breezy with a mixture of bands of cloud and rain interspersed by drier, brighter spells. On the other hand, southern parts should have more in the way of dry, bright weather, although even here weak weather fronts may bring cloud and a little patchy rain at times.

This north-south split to the weather is likely to continue through the rest of the period with northern areas seeing more changeable weather with cloud and outbreaks of rain or showers interspersed with brighter, drier spells. Southern parts will see a good deal of dry and bright weather although even here weak weather fronts may bring cloud and a little patchy rain at times. Temperatures will be largely around normal for the time of year, though some warmer spells are likely to develop in the south.

UK Outlook for Saturday 13 Aug 2016 to Monday 22 Aug 2016:

Predominantly fine weather can be expected this weekend, with Sunday probably the best of the two days in regards to both sunshine and warmth. On Saturday, there is a likelihood of catching one or two showers across central and northern areas, but that risk becoming confined to northern Scotland by Sunday. At the start of next week, it's expected to turn hot and humid with a good deal of hazy sunshine, especially across southern, central and eastern Britain. However, by mid-week, this short spell of hot weather is expected to break-down as rain spreads from the west, potentially with thunderstorms for a time. By next weekend, a return to somewhat cooler, changeable weather is anticipated, with the weather generally driest and warmest in the south.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Aug 2016 to Tuesday 6 Sep 2016:

Early indications suggest a trend towards increased mobility of weather systems from the Atlantic during this period. This would mean an increased likelihood of spells of wet and windy weather across all parts, though particularly to the north and west of the country. Still some dry and sunny weather around at times, especially in the south and east. Temperatures are expected to be near or just below the seasonal norm.

UK Outlook for Sunday 14 Aug 2016 to Tuesday 23 Aug 2016:

Sunday looks likely to be dry and warm across the bulk of the British Isles with sunny spells and only light breezes. Then during Monday and Tuesday the latest indications are that it will remain dry and that it will become very warm, or perhaps locally hot, as a southeasterly airflow develops. A good deal of sunshine is likely during this period. However, as we head into the middle and latter part of next week there are signs that this short spell of hot, settled weather will break down as thundery showers or longer spells of rain encroach from the southwest. Therefore by next weekend a return to somewhat cooler, fresher, changeable weather is likely to have occurred, with the weather generally driest and warmest in the southeast.

The current indications are that the latter part of August and the first week of September will be changeable, or perhaps unsettled at times, with periods of rain or showers interspersed with drier brighter conditions with sunny intervals. The rain and showers are likely to be most prevalent across northwestern areas, more especially during late August, whereas the best of the drier, sunnier conditions are more likely to occur in the southeast, perhaps more so during early September. There should be some warm days at times, especially in the south, but overall the temperature should average out at close to normal for the time of year.

UK Outlook for Monday 15 Aug 2016 to Wednesday 24 Aug 2016:

Early next week looks predominantly dry and sunny with temperatures rising, possibly becoming hot across parts of the south. The heat looks short-lived though as Atlantic fronts edge in from the west by midweek. This will bring a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain for a time, with cooler, fresher conditions becoming established by the latter part of the week. Thereafter, details are very uncertain, but the changeable weather looks likely to dominate, with brighter spells interspersed with showers or longer spells of rain. Into the following week, this changeable pattern will probably continue, with most of the rain tending to be in the west, and eastern areas seeing the driest conditions. Though temperatures will average out close to normal, some warm days are likely, especially in the south.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 16 Aug 2016 to Thursday 25 Aug 2016:

Largely sunny and in places, hot on Tuesday. However, we'll soon see a change to cooler and fresher conditions as Atlantic fronts edge in from the west later on Tuesday and during Wednesday, bringing a risk of thunderstorms and heavy rain for a time, as well as murky conditions around some western coasts. Thereafter, details are uncertain, but the changeable weather looks likely to dominate, with brighter spells interspersed with showers or longer spells of rain. Into the following week, this changeable pattern will probably continue, with most of the rain tending to be in the northwest, and southeastern areas seeing the driest conditions. UK Outlook for Wednesday 17 Aug 2016 to Friday 26 Aug 2016:

A transition from the very warm or hot weather to a more unsettled regime is expected to occur during Wednesday and Thursday. As this happens some thundery downpours are likely across southern and eastern parts, whilst in the north and west some showers or longer outbreaks of rain are likely. Thereafter details are uncertain, but changeable weather looks most likely across northwestern parts. With this we expect showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed by dry and bright spells, which may become lengthy at times. In the southeast dry and bright weather is expected for the most part, with just occasional rain or showers. Temperatures will likely average out close to normal, although some warm spells are likely at times, especially in the south.
