UK Outlook for Friday 12 May 2017 to Sunday 21 May 2017:

Friday will see a noticeable change for many of us. The dry weather we have become used to is likely to be replaced by significant rainfall, and later, by heavy showers. This breakdown in the weather will happen in the south first, so Scotland will probably stay dry and warm, though breezy, until Saturday. It will stay changeable into next week with outbreaks of rain likely to affect many, especially in the northwest. The rain could be heavy at times, with the chance of thunderstorms, most likely in the south. It will be rather breezy some of the time, with stronger winds in the northwest. Temperatures will be near-normal in the northwest but rather warm further southeast.

UK Outlook for Saturday 13 May 2017 to Monday 22 May 2017:

It will remain changeable across the UK on Saturday, with bands of rain moving north and eastwards. Wet and windy conditions may move across the northwest into Sunday, but it will become drier in the southeast. Away from the northeast it will be rather warm, with milder nights than of late. Into next week it will be more unsettled in the northwest, with outbreaks of rain here. Further southeast it will be drier, brighter and milder, however still with the possibility of some showers that could possibly be thundery. It will be rather breezy some of the time, with stronger winds in the northwest. Temperatures will be near average in the northwest, but rather warm further southeast.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 May 2017 to Tuesday 6 Jun 2017:

Towards the end of May a rather mixed period is most likely, with the more unsettled conditions across the northwest, with rain here at times. It will remain drier in southern and south-eastern areas though. Temperatures will tend towards the seasonal average, or will be slightly below this for some. Into early June it appears more likely that high pressure will affect the United Kingdom, bringing settled and warmer weather for most, however confidence is low at this stage.

Into next week it will be more unsettled and windy in the northwest, with outbreaks of rain here and near average temperatures. Further southeast it will stay drier, brighter and possibly turn very warm and humid for a time. However, there will still be the chance of some heavy and possibly thundery showers. It will be more unsettled and windy in the northwest, with outbreaks of rain here and near average temperatures. Further southeast it will stay drier, brighter and possibly turn very warm and humid for a time. However, there will still be the chance of some heavy and possibly thundery showers. UK Outlook for Tuesday 16 May 2017 to Thursday 25 May 2017:

Remaining unsettled and windy in the northwest with persistent rain, particularly over the hills on Tuesday, possibly moving southeastwards on Wednesday. Meanwhile it's likely to be drier, brighter and possibly very warm in the southeast with some sunshine although it will feel humid. By the end of next week and into next weekend, cooler changeable conditions will filter southeastwards across the UK. Cloud and rain in the northwest is likely to move southeastwards. This will introduce cooler air across the country with some rain and stronger winds, but there will be some drier and brighter interludes too. Towards the end of this period, it's likely to remain changeable in the northwest, but drier conditions are likely to prevail in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 17 May 2017 to Friday 26 May 2017:

Patchy rain looks set to move erratically south-eastwards on Wednesday. Probably staying warm or very warm in the southeast of the UK, but fresher weather following the rain across the northwest. Through the rest of next week and into next weekend, cooler changeable conditions will filter south-eastwards across the whole of the UK. Cloud and rain in the northwest is likely to move south-eastwards at times. This will introduce cooler air across the country with some rain and stronger winds, but there will be some drier and brighter interludes too. Towards the end of this period drier conditions are likely to prevail, with more in the way of fine weather developing, though it could remain changeable in the far northwest.

Brighter, showery and fresher conditions in the north will spread to all parts during Thursday, with the exception of the far southeast, where it will stay rather warm and humid, with perhaps some thunderstorms, particularly at first. Friday and Saturday will generally see a mixture of sunshine and showers, most frequent and heaviest in the north, whilst many southern parts will stay largely fine and dry throughout. A southwest/northeast split in the weather is likely from Sunday to Tuesday, with the south and west seeing more in the way of dry and settled weather, whilst the north and east stay unsettled. Thereafter, we are likely to see a good deal of dry and fine weather developing for most.

There is likely to be a good deal of dry and fine weather for the start of this period. Thereafter, signals become much weaker for conditions into the start of June, with equal probabilities of settled and unsettled weather dominating across the United Kingdom. Generally, there is likely to be a mixed spell of weather, with rain or showers for most, interspersed with drier conditions. Temperatures are likely to be near the average to rather warm, perhaps very warm at times, particularly in the south if a southerly airflow develops.

UK Outlook for Saturday 20 May 2017 to Monday 29 May 2017:

This weekend is likely to see a mixture of sunshine and showers although there is a slight risk of a longer spell of rain. Winds will generally be fairly light and temperatures will be around average, although it should feel fairly warm in any sunnier spells. Thereafter, confidence is low, but it is likely that the start of next week will remain showery, especially through Tuesday. Showers should become fewer and lighter through the week, with increasing amounts of dry and sunny weather by Thursday. Winds will remain fairly light with temperatures close to or just above average, but again feeling warm in any sunshine. By the end of the period, it is most likely to be dry, fine and rather warm but still with a chance of showery conditions.

I'd love to know where the meto keep getting their dry fine and possibly warm forecasts for the end of the month from! I haven't seen anything pointing to that as of yet. I'll be keeping a close eye out!

UK Outlook for Sunday 21 May 2017 to Tuesday 30 May 2017:

The start of next week is likely to be dominated by sunshine and showers with the odd longer spell of rain possible for some. Some showers could be thundery, especially in the southeast. Temperatures will be near average to rather warm in any longer sunny spells, with chilly nights. Thereafter, confidence is low, but showers should become fewer and lighter through the week, with increasing amounts of dry and sunny weather possible. Winds will remain fairly light with temperatures close to or just above average, but again feeling warm in any sunshine. As we head into the Bank Holiday weekend and thereafter a trend to more unsettled conditions is most probable. Showers or longer spells of rain and perhaps coastal gales are likely to move across the country.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 May 2017 to Thursday 1 Jun 2017:

This period is likely to start on a changeable note with sunshine and showers for many, some of which could be heavy and thundery. However, it should begin to turn more settled for a time from the west, gradually bringing drier and brighter weather across the UK, although there remains some uncertainty over how quickly this change will take place. Thereafter, confidence remains low but it looks like the end of May will see a return to more unsettled weather with showers or longer spells of rain and stronger winds and perhaps coastal gales. Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly warmer than average especially in any settled and sunnier spells, though with some cooler nights.

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Jun 2017 to Friday 16 Jun 2017:

Confidence in the forecast becomes very low as we head into June, but after an unsettled start on balance it looks like fairly settled conditions will return. This will bring mostly dry and sunny conditions with lighter winds, although there remains the risk of some spells of rain or showers. Temperatures are likely to be near average or rather warm, especially in any sunnier spells and particularly towards the middle of June. However, this may bring the risk of some thundery showers, mainly in the south or southeast of the country.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 24 May 2017 to Friday 2 Jun 2017:

High pressure will lead to mainly dry and bright weather on Wednesday, though some showery rain is possible across the far north of the UK. It is set to stay mainly dry and settled through the end of the next week, with some warm sunshine developing at times. However, it may well become more unsettled later in the Bank Holiday Weekend and into the beginning of June with showers or longer spells of rain, perhaps accompanied by coastal gales in the west later. The best of any drier and brighter weather is most likely in the east or southeast. Temperatures are likely to be near average for the time of year, but becoming warm in any sunshine that develops.

UK Outlook for Thursday 25 May 2017 to Saturday 3 Jun 2017:

High pressure will bring mostly dry weather across the UK through the start of this period with some warm perhaps even very warm sunshine developing, although some showery rain is possible at times in the far north. The generally dry and warm spell should last into the start of the Bank Holiday weekend, however later and thereafter through the beginning of June conditions are likely to turn more unsettled. This will bring a greater risk of showery rain and stronger winds over many parts with the strongest winds perhaps across the west and southwest. Temperatures will return closer to normal by the end of the month, although in any sunshine it will still become rather warm.

UK Outlook for Sunday 4 Jun 2017 to Sunday 18 Jun 2017:

Confidence in the forecast remains lows as we head into June, but on balance the first full week of June looks set to remain unsettled giving a greater risk of showers or longer spells of rain, interspersed with some drier and brighter weather. By the middle of June, more settled weather may begin to dominate bringing drier and brighter weather. Temperatures are likely to be close to normal during the start of this period, but as more settled weather arrives it is likely that it will turn warmer and may become very warm in places.

UK Outlook for Saturday 27 May 2017 to Monday 5 Jun 2017:

The sunny and very warm or hot conditions are likely to hold on in many eastern and south-eastern parts during the Bank Holiday weekend. However, we will already begin to see a thundery breakdown pushing in across northern and western parts during Saturday. Perhaps turning fresher, with drier and brighter weather moving into western parts on Sunday and Monday. A brief settled spell of weather is likely to follow, before we see unsettled conditions developing into the first week of June, with a mixture of sunshine and showers or longer spells of rain with strong winds, mainly in the north and west. Temperatures generally returning closer to normal, although in any sunshine it will become rather warm at times.

UK Outlook for Sunday 28 May 2017 to Tuesday 6 Jun 2017:

A very uncertain period, but the more likely scenario is for rather mixed conditions during the Bank Holiday, with showery outbreaks of rain, perhaps heavy and thundery, but also some brighter spells. Temperatures are likely to be down compared to earlier on in the weekend, although it should stay rather warm and humid, especially in the southeast. Meanwhile, it will probably be cooler and fresher in the north and west, where we may see windier conditions. Into next week, we will generally see a mixture of sunshine and showers, particularly across the northwest. However, we may hold on to drier, brighter and perhaps warmer conditions in the far southeast, although some thundery showers are possible.
