The Tapley Obelsik

The remains of the Tapley Park obelisk in north Devon after it was struck by lightning on the 11th of June 1932.

It happened during the early hours when a flash of lightning, accompanied by a hissing sound, struck the 50+ft obelisk completely shattering it. Some granite blocks were hurled 30 yards.

Wow that is amazing, what do you think the hissing sound was?

Do you really think that was caused by lightning? does lightning have that kind of power to explode solid granite? cc_confused.gif
