M4 was getting a light covering at about 10.45, particularly in outside lane. The A46 down into Bath was a snow-fest, only to be taken with much caution. The A36 was less of a problem, but because of what I'd witnessed on the A46 I was taking it slowly (hence I was overtaken by somebody!) in case I rounded a corner and found the sort of conditions I'd just traversed. Nothing impassable tho, just great care needed in some places, A46 especially. Kind of slushy though, so I expect the morning rush hour will clear it all...

I Though it was all but over 2 hours ago after reading Ian's blog because he spoke of ppn levels dropping away to leave mainly light but it looks so good now!! air_kiss.gif

I think it has already been put back to thur/friday but we are going to have at least a thaw round late week/weekend however with so much on ground maybe if cold can come back quick enough i could keep hold of at least some snowcover.

Here's hoping!

Worth a try!

Well, I've got tomorrow off anyway, so I'm staying up for a bit longer!... Enjoying 24 and snow-watching!

Here's hoping for some more heavy bursts of snow in the wee small hours!! :)

Good luck with the "working from home" day tomorrow!!!

It looks like the heavier bursts are coming and going!

Yeah...

The dark pink patches (heavier snow) on the NW radar seem to be appearing/disappearing in random places!...

Not one defined "band" that you can easily follow/predict!

I don't mind - as long as they keep randomly appearing over us!!!

I think this is rivalling the snow event last Wednesday, the one that we had a Severe Weather Warning out for 'Very Heavy Snow' that we should 'Take Action' for! The only action i took was to look out of the window every 5 minutes to see if it had started snowing!

Well, lets just hope it can keep going for a few more hours!...

So far it's been a pleasant surprise!...

Now if only that warm front could be pushed away again after tonight, we'd be laughing!! :)

Excellent, I've found awake people. It's snowing convincingly here in Oxford, and presumably elsewhere around the area, yet no one is up. Is this because it was the upgrade has come so late in the day. The event looked like very little to speak off until very recently, but the last couple of runs suddenly made it more widespread, heavier and temps colder.

Welcome to the hardcore "snow lovers" forum! :drinks:

When you say "the last couple of runs suddenly made it more widespread, heavier and temps colder", is this an idication that things aren't to turn as mild later this week as first thought??... Or is this just regarding tonight?...

It has improved! Yesssssssssssssssssss! :) Welcome to the SW thread! How much have you had so far? I think everyone is tired from all the snow watching recently. I dont think anyone knew exactly what would happen tonight.

Wasnt expecting any but woke anyway just to check and youve guessed it nothing. Been consistent rain here in Poole since 5pm. Snow again to the east west and north. It doesnt make any sense to me when other areas at sea level snow but never here in Poole and Bournemouth. Our sum total this year is 1cm lol. In fact I have a son of nearly 24 who has never seen more than 2cms in his entire life. Nothing like the winters when I was a lad. Anyway whinge over and its still raining hard. Enjoy im so envious.

It looks like there's a lot of heavy stuff on the trailing end of the ppn...

Just hope it a) keeps heading this way and :) keeps its intensity... :drinks:

EDIT: That was meant to be a "b" followed by a ")" and not a smiley with sunglasses!!!

Lovely moderate sized flakes coming down now.

Now if we could just keep this going for another 6 hours!..

Indeed! :)

Anyway, it's about time I went to bed...

Hope to wake up to a nice fresh covering of snow in the morning!

Night all.
