raintoday radar appears to be trying to say that the precip is changing more to sleet as it comes into wales - I don't believe that for a minute mind and I've seen the way this particular radar's reliability isn't always spot on

Please note this is a weather related thread.

J1, You got any snow falling? Been light flurries here all evening.

Seems like the band is moving in a more northwesterly direction. Could miss here.

It has been snowing, and we have got a light dusting, but it has stopped now and I am waiting for the band from the east. Even though it is moving NW as you say, there is quite a lot of westward movement as well, how the band interacts with the Bristol Channel is anyone's guess.

Bet it misses us.

I'm thinking that, Looks like it will affect Mid, Maybe east Wales for a time

Flicking through the 18z GFS ensembles and there's very strong agreement on Tuesday's event. Mostly rain affair for SW England (apart from moors) but more on a knife edge in Wales with a good chance of significant snow. Precip never really makes it to N. Wales before stalling. Perhaps something inbetween the NAE and GFS will be the outcome... I'd take that.

A mix between NAE and GFS could be perfect. Fingers Crossed

Thanks for update, as you said things can change very quickly, very odd weather.

not necessarily - raintoday radar has done this before and then what comes out of the sky is snow - just wait and see

Possibly Lake Effect snow heading out of Croyden down the M4. Radio Wales might not be too far out:wacko:

not so much lake effect - more the front from the continent picking up a little more moisture from the channel before heading over land - lake effect snow tends to happen directly after the front hits land in America - the great lakes

It is touch and go whether we get it, so I'll say we will miss out on it. :D

(other times I've said radar heading for us, it misses. ) :nonono:

RE: The massive 'hail' someone is describing is the Raintoday radar removing their premium trial service... so now there is no precip type.

I can't believe that raintoday radar hgas instantly changed from red to yellow all over the UK...sounds like a fault to me...the snow falling hasnt instantly changed to hail like magic....or has it lol
