Woke up at 7am to the first proper rain for about 3-4 weeks; was windy too and is wet and windy again now. However I was surprised how muggy it felt this afternoon with a temp of 19C and rain/sun alternating. I expected the drought to end with a cold rain.

Rained heavy here for most of the day, some of the local roads where flooded. It has eased now but still light rain with a slight breeze, cloudy skies, my weather station is down, so no proper data.

A wet day almost from dawn till dusk, the rain was very heavy first thing petered out a bit by lunchtime then got heavy during the afternoon petering out completely this evening.

We were just on the northern edge of the mild humid stuff, so it never felt particularly mild.

Temperatures are dropping fast now as skies clear, very good chance of ground frost tonight, best chance of the autumn so far. I might just get up an hour earlier than normal just to see if there is a frost about.

stll slight drizzle here after the afternoon and evening soaking-12.4mm in my garden so most of this area would have had more like 15-18mm I would guess.

temp down to 10.9C from its heady 21.2C briefly this afternoon and dewpoint now on 9.6C from its max of 16.5C early this evening.

Now if this was January, with temps about 5C above normal etc etc !!

We've had almost everything here today. Overnight it was clear and cool with a min of 7.5C. It then turned overcast by sunrise with spells of heavy rain moving in. It was then sunny for a time in the afternoon allowing the temperature to reach a warm 18.8C, accompanied by a dewpoint of 16.6C. Finally some very heavy rain showers in the evening, along with associated claps of thunder and lightning.

An extremely interesting day and the wettest for some time (10.3mm). Its now calm and dry again at 10.9C.
