lol , amazing it was actually like that last night and you knw whats interesting here is tht the area that had that effect is covered in fog is this something to do with that?

Its to do with the aerosols released by that Russian volcano. There have been a few of these purplish twilights (dawn and dusk) this summer.

Look out for tonight and see if you can see the purplish zone about half an hour after sunset.

Ah that would be Sarytchev in the Kuril Islands which erupted with great force for a couple of days a couple of months back. Nice! I'll look out for that tonight if the sky is clear. :crazy:
