Perwetty flutterby Sunsetter, I saw one in the garden a couple of weeks ago, just sat on the Buddleia, stupidly I just stood there and watched it for about 5 minutes before I thought of getting my camera, as soon as I got back out there the little bugger had fluttered on :bad:

LOL I do that but then I kick myself for not having just done it in the first place and the worst part is I never seem to learn my lesson !

Seen down by the river recently

That is one of the most superb photos of a dragonfly I have seen for a long time. The lighting and clarity are really brilliant, how well it shows the beautiful sheen on these lovely creatures. Lots of congratulations to you sunsetter.

This isn't a photo of insects, but how much work they do when we're not looking....You only ever see this when the sun is at a very specific angle, and then it's amazing. At any other time of the day you can't even see it as you are walking though it.

  • April 2024 - Was it that cold overall? A look at the statistics

General perception from many is that April was a cold month, but statistics would suggest otherwise, with the average temperature for the whole month coming in just above the 30 year average for the UK as a whole.
