Just a few pics from early this morning at West Sands, St. Andrews  First one was 100iso eq @ f1.8 and 10 sec exposure, strong moonlight about midnight with the faintest of hint of an aurora.

More shots here from Scotland last night. Fingers crossed again tonight as there is another predicted Kp7 ☺

From Salon on the Isle Of Rum & The Isle Of Lewis tonight. Credit; Martin Keivers and Emma Mitchell.

GREEN CLOUDS OVER SWEDEN: Last night, auroras unexpectedly exploded over Abisko, Sweden. "It was a great display," says Chad Blakley of local tour guide service Lights Over Lapland. "But it wasn't the auroras that caught our eye." It was the clouds:

    Yep..

     Very interesting..

Despite this (perhaps because of it) the current run of zero sunspots continues.

It looks at this early stage that we are starting out with a very slow weak cycle.

There apparently is a correlation between the number of sun spots early in the cycle and the maxima recorded for the cycle.

So currently looking as though 25 will be around the same as 24.  (ie lowish)

Nice long spotless stretch. Might be coming to an end though judging by spaceweather.com and the slight rise of solar flux.

Aye but it did that a week or 10 days ago, amounted to nothing...I'm not saying it will this time mind.
