It's just been snowing quite heavily at Manchester Airport, my parents live just alongside. Here we had some grains overnight but nothing more than sleet this morning.

Continuous light-moderate snow for the last hour or so. Only settling in the heavier bursts, and then only above 300m, as the temp' is 0.8c.

Graupel earlier on . Now a fascinating alternating mixture of rain/graupel/wet snow. As the radar indicates it will intensify hopefully snow will prevail!

light to moderate snow showers on and off all morning giving a light dusting to the

existing snow cover - the peak district still looks nice and snowy from my house :)

I can confirm that rain has now turned to moderate snow here in Burton, temperature 2.5c and falling.

Snow showers now seem to becoming less wet, and some good sized flakes mixed in. Intensity is changing from light to moderate, but no settling.

Tried taking some pictures, but not really turning out too well.

Snow now getting heavier, and starting to settle :)

Snow flurries in Leicester, fairly moderate at the moment with reasonable large flakes.

Not settling of course.

That same band seems to have now eased off. An hour of wet snow. Light covering on cars & grass. Temperature fell from 2.1c (10am) to 0.8c (12noon)

Is this when falling snow in light winds cools the air around it causing more precipitation to turn to snow (whatever that's called)?
